Best lamps?

Recommended Posts

Hi Calaman, good to hear there has been no heat, I dont have huge experience (this being my first indoor grow) however I am currently using a Power Plant 600w HSP, the guy at lismore Hydro has told me it has a high red spectrum which is better for flowering and it seems to be doing the job fine, it certainly has a more red colour than any other light I have seen.....If only I could afford a MH for veg!

Always been a fan of the Sunmaster globes. Next time though, I`m

gonna give the powerplant globe a go, you can get retro MH for your HPS Ballast.

I`ll look it up 1st though and see if it`s what it`s claimed to be.

Cheaper for me ATM as opposed to buying a digi ballast, that`s on the cards though,

next year sometime... Shit, I aint grown indoors for a few months now... getting

keen to roll on again

I'm going to mention that 'best' may have permutations particular to your situation. Design your space, then asses what light you need in that space.

The die-hards will poopoo me because, in my latest incarnation, I'm using and promoting CFL's rather than HID's.

I am starting to form an opinion that debate about such mostly revolves around whether one wants to make decent smoke for oneself or whether the aim is to get the maximum amount of FILTHY MULL from a constrained space. I'm a 'decent smoke' sortta bloke. I'd like one of my girls to be centerfold material on cannaporn but similar to the girls I've loved I'm not totally disappointed that Lara ain't lyin' next to me.

Grow good mull, get good at it and grow even better mull, HECK, grow GREAT mull.

Ok so the next extension to this question would be.... we all know that when they say a lamp will cover a certain area for growing is shit, and i went and used the growroom calculator for what wattage it says i need (1800W ideal). So how many lights and what wattage in an area 1.8m wide by 2.2 long and 2 high? I dont think 2 600 will do the job. Im thinking I either need 2 600s and a 1000 in the middle - that way I can use the 2 600s for veg and then put the 1K in the middle for flower. Or just 2 1000Watters strait out

Thing is Ive only used multiple 400s before so I dont know the ideal footprint (there's that word again!) for 600s. Does anyone think a 600 will go across 1.8 ok?

See I finally got my 15000 BTU portable aircon off layby today and Im thinking that heat is going to be a problem of the past when i kick over again, but then again I dont know what sort of heat these bigger ones will put out.

Suggestions, advice, etc etc......

Oh yeah BaronS, I want QUANTITY!!!! as Im confident my strain has taken care of the quality!

Best setup Ive seen is 600w digital ballasts. They run both MH and HPS. And produce less heat than 1000w if you used 2.

Also good if you want your neibours freaking out about the TV interferance ... Digital ballasts are a waste of money IMHO they ammit to much interference there not shielded properly ,But on the other hand you are right about them being able to run MH and HPS ,As for heat the ballast doesnt heat up the same amount as a magnetic ballast but the globes are the same heat ...
