Hello everyone,

 

just purchased some PK-13 for use now I am in the fifth week of flowering, the directions on the bottle say to use it only for one week and then to discontinue use, however I have heard of people using it right up until the final flush before harvesting

 

 

.....how does everyone else use it?

I use only for a bud boost 3 weeks before harvest before my final flush.

Now here's the trick...... you need to know accurately the period of time for the strain to finish in order to use it according to the directions which i think says to administer "3 weeks prior to harvest". In order to know this you can rely on the info provided with thew purchase of the seeds or if your3 going the second time with the same plant then you would know from experience of having grtow out the strain (plant) on previous occasions.

PK is just a solution containing high amount of soluble potassium and phosphorous, these boost flower growth and flavour.

I have been experimenting with adding small amounts (0.1ml/L week 2, 0.5ml/L weeks 3 and 4) of PK to my coco nutrients from early in flower. Mainly because the coco nutrients I am using are a veg/bloom nute (used right through) so they aren't particularly high in P and K to start with. There is a noticeable increase in trichome development on the PK'd plants.

I will use full strength through week 5 then flush before giving plain nutes (plus a few things ) for the last few weeks.

I think I will use full strength from today for the next week, unfortunately I dont know how long this strain takes to finish, I got the seeds off a local grower some years ago and have only grown them outdoors before my first Hydro attempt ( this one!), outdoors they seem to take about 10 weeks to mature from first sexing, though has been as long as 15 weeks in the past, I feel from looking at the buds compared to previous outdoor grows that they still have another 4 weeks before they are ready....Hmmmm decisions decisions.....I think I will add the PK-13 this week and then just cross my finger, not matter how it turns out I will have a better idea for my next grow

I tend to follow the directions on the bottle, they seem pretty clear and concise...

 

Which are:

 

PK 13-14 is pharmaceutical grade so it is essential to follow the directions exactly. Never use more than the recommended amount. Never use longer than the recommended time duration. When used as per the directions PK 13-14® will reward you with a sizeable increase in yield.

 

3-4 weeks before harvest

 

1 week only

 

Max 2ml/L

 

 

There has to be a solid reason why not use it at any other time/longer... because im sure they wouldn't mind people using more of it and boosting their profits if it was a good thing to do

I used it as per directions but then applied it again because I harvested in two phases. It was remarkable second crop how much the little buds that had been exposed to the light increased in size and hardness. I felt I got more yield from the second crop because of this additive. Trichs were also very good on mine. I will confess I am certainly not an experienced grower. Crucially I haven't compared results using same clone and conditions without the PK. Based on my humble observation the flowers did seem to change and prosper immediately after the stuff was added. Hope every ones buds are huge cheers!

PK 13-14 main ingredients are P-13%P(Potassium) K-14% (phosphorous). These ratios are said to be outdated. Reading this link gives some usefull information http://www.advancednutrients.com/landing_p...ad_landing.html. P & K are used to boost levels due to added consumption during flowering/lack of correct nutrient levels. Canna's advice is extremely miniscul. It seems alot of growers find it hard to take the blinkers off when it comes to canna's recomended doses. Well your not growing somthing that first buds then fruits. It stays as a bud! Hence canna's one time use.

 

Megabud Plus is what you use, here are the reasons.

 

Ratio is P-22.9, K-28.7 (try and find higher)

Its about $30 for a litre

You use it the entire flower cycle (proof canna's directions are pissweak)

only 1ml per litre so its 4x the strength of PK13-14

Its Australian owned and made! (fuck dadutch)

Can also be used as a foliar spray.

 

BTW if a solid reason for not using more PK 13-14 was due to say overfert. And recomending more would increase their profits??? All I got to say is too late cause youve already been blind sided and profited from at $40 a litre and 1/4 the strength!

 

Start using these ferts 2 weeks after flip to allow the plants a normal transition. Then add the recomended doses every nutrient change until flush!

If your referring to the aus-hydro range, I have had recent PH problem with their psycho range in particular the bat guano product. It really throws the ph out in a recirculating system something fierce. Since not using, ph has remained steady.
