hot with co2 or cool with none

Recommended Posts

Im in 4th week of flowering.Im running co2 in a fairly sealed room.i have no ventilation.the room gets very hot with 1000w hps. With temps over 100f will that slow budding?will my buds get bigger with co2 and hot or should i open the door and cool the room with no co2? room is 6x7x7 northern lights x ak47.

Buds are growing but not exploding should they be at this stage with this strain?

heya Father :D .. 'the strain' is a hybrid cross of two known pure strains therefore the offspring have unknown expectations .... 4th week flowering and bud structures generally start developing bigger dimensions, also keep in mind there is maybe 4-6 wks of flowering ahead ..

ive never used co2 so im ignorant as to how much difference that it makes, maybe in high-end grows where the environment is really 1st class perfect and the plants want for nothing then perhaps the next step would be using co2 enriched environment ..

but in your case on what youve said i would be making sure the growing area has regular flow through ventilation and putting the co2 on hold until next grow when perhaps you have made allowances for fresh air exchange

fresh air ventilation is very important in allowing the plant to carry on its work of growth and flower production unhindered .. more so than high temps,

even to the point that the plant cannot rid itself of toxins without fresh air which also contains co2, albeit in low concentrations,

plus air exchange will certainly lower temps.

in my case i have grown with the G-room temps hovering in mid-30's, but i have had air rushing through the room so much so that it creates such a strong wind that one can safely smoke in there and the smoke is immediately removed that was 'cause it was summer-time, and plants still produce a big harvest ... but you dont need that degree of air exchange ..

so i urge you to opt for the fresh air, as im sure it will improve your plant's general health and rate of growth

good luck with em

you must either ventilate or add CO2 or things will grind to a halt.

I've done a few quick numbers on your growroom father and the total CO2 in your room is only enough for the plants to make 1.31 gram of sugar !! Then once thats done they do nothing until they get more CO2

If you want me to post the calculations and show how I did this then just say and I'll be happy to oblige but whatever you do get some CO2 into that room!!

Hey was late when I replied, thought you said room was sealed and you were NOT adding CO2, my mistake.

Anyway the numbers check out ok this morning, in a room the size of yours, before CO2 is added, there's only the tiniest amount of CO2 available. Now I've actually checked it out for myself I realise the importance of getting more CO2 into the room from heaps of ventilation or by adding CO2.

On the grow side, although CO2 enrichment likes higher temps, your room does sound a little too warm, perhaps high temp is inhibiting growth?

Finally, what CO2 level do you have in your room? I did the maths to suggest CO2 burn rates in another post you made, did it help? If you think that your CO2 is getting too high then it might be a good idea to occasionally flush the air in your room and start again. Personally I'd be working hard on not letting total CO2 get above about 1500ppm. Adding a little will improve things, but to much and you could be doing harm

Anyway I'm not claiming I have practical knowledge about CO2 yet, for me its still just theory, I've poured over the chemistry and physics, to me it looks good. I've learnt that in general the room needs to be warmer than for usual CO2 levels, lighting can be stronger, nutes flow must be good so when everything is hunky dory the extra CO2 gives your grow a boost (so long as you dont exceed some level and stress the girls).

Am very interested to hear how your grow shakes out

Cheers
