Keeping resevoir cool

Recommended Posts

I was just checking that diagram... it looks dangerous... get a smoke alarm.. get 4 of them...

400 watt light under plants = big nono imo

Your gonna need an air con with that setup, no two ways about it..hehe

I gotta admit that swc would be good to experiment with by why in this setup? doesn't make sense.. not with all the heat exchange going on in that diagram...

nah, I say the bottom light is gonna kick ass, these are gonna be some big fucking plants, I'm going for at least a pound and 1/2 of each, they'll be 6ft tall and 3ft wide by harvest. but yeah the bottom light is my main heat worry, all the lights will be air-cooled and hopefully I can keep most of the room good.

2000m3 is a ton of exhaust, the kind of fan that will make your hat fly off. and everything will be vented from outside into the roof, so I think i can keep the room a good temp with the exception of some hot spots above the lights. Running the lights at night I should keep the temperature of the box down below 32c or so.

The reason for using shallow water culture and recirculating system instead of my normal bubblers is just to get the water in and out as fast as possible without it heating up, I figure adding as much air as possible to the buckets will do a good job of keeping the water cool as well as being a good growing environment. Also there will be more room for roots then with one bucket.

I think what putard meant is that if any plant matter falls on that bottom light you could have problems.

am very interested to see how it turns out...hope you can get hold of a digi cam....

I wonder if you'll get buds growing down towards that bottom light

yeah well I think the leaf will just slowly cook, it'll be landing on that expensive tempered glass crap that costs like $80 a sheet anyway.

And yeah I'll get pictures, My next grow after I move in 2 weeks will be the same as always 800w DWC crop and 600w SOG later on. I'll take setup and harvest pictures on that one, gotta borrow a camera. But this will be next crop after that one probably, but will get the water chiller set up before then.

Ya know them camera's that are like $200?? are they any good?? can I take nice resin shots and detailed dry bud shots with them ones?? How much for a good one???

mate I don't know a lot about cameras. My shots are taken with a 2.1megapixel camera that I "borrow" from work. Its a couple of years old and is a fairly basic model I think. I've seen 3.2megapixel cameras for $500.

Basically its a one off investment so worth spending a little more IMO. But I reckon any camera you buy will be good enough to show us your plants/setup. If you really want good quality closups though, you might need to invest in something a little better.

I'm thinking of buying a camera myself , so am interested in anyone's suggestions as well.

Oh yes... about purchasing a camera... try before you buy... ask them if it does macro shots.. if they don't seem to know or don't want you to use the camera then go elsewhere... better to be safe than sorry...

test the camera in the shop to see if it does macro shots... hold the lens about a centimeter away from your watch... can you see it clearly in the resulting shot? If not, don't buy it..

Oh about that light on the bottom... yeah.. didn't think of the leaves falling scenario... more the crispy bacon flavoured carpet sorta thingy..hehe

well, I'm sure it'll work if there is enough air movement... shit if I had 45+ temps in my grow and I've got it down with two pissy fans then I'm sure it'll be ok.

That looks like a kick arse setup if you can pull it off mate... Heck I wouldn't worry too much about the nute temps... just keep em circulating with a pump and a larger res... with a feed line long enough to keep the whole thing away from the heat sources...
