what to set my co2 at?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm new to this site, new to indoor growing and I've yet to try CO2 but I'm ok with maths. So if you havn't got an answer from the manufacturers then this should bail you out for the time being:

First you need the room volume not floor area. I going to assume the height of your room is 8 feet. But if you measure it and have a different answer just let me know and I will redo the maths.

So: Volume of room (V) = 8 feet height x 325 sq ft floor area = 2600 cubic ft

Amount of CO2 to fill the room with 1000ppm is: 1000/1000000 x 2600 = 2.6 cu ft

So thats how much CO2 to add to the room. (to give you a total of 1000 added + 300 ambient = 1300ppm all up)

I've never seen a CO2 generator so I dont know what the dial looks like. I'll make some guesses until you can get me the answer but for now lets assume the rate is in cubic feet per minute.

So: some sample settings would be:

2.6 cubic feet per minute running for 1 minute (sounds a bit fast to me)

or

0.0433 cu ft / min for 1 hour (I got that by 2.6/60 minutes) I'd be trying for around here somewhere

or

0.0036 cu ft / min for 12 hours (by dividing 2.6 by (60 minutes x 12 hours)

All the best and let me know how CO2 growing compares, I look forward to doing CO2 myself but I'm still stuck at sourcing quality seeds for my first indoor grow.

BTW let me know if you need further help, I'll just need info like the scale on your CO2 generator seting, room height etc

you need to achieve between 1000-1600ppm but you need absolute control of your heat, humidity and ventlation.

It'll be incredibly hit and miss otherwise and the results could be disastrous.

I wouldn't even think about it without a sealed room, cool tube and appropriate monitoring hardware that can automatically control the co2 flow.

Otherwise just chuck some dry ice in a stocking and hang above the plants during lights on.
