purple buds

hey guys i was just wondering if n e of you could help me see my freind has a plant and it has purple buds....only they dont look like buds....they look like you know those trees with like nuts on them or real thick funny shaped leaves....well yar i dont have a pic for ya coz i dont have a digi camera....but she thinks its male ...it full dosent even look like a mully but the smell omg the smell...its gotta be....but when i am able i will take a pic for you guys.....but was just wondering your opinions....

i can only guess that if the plant is outdoors, that the colour is due to the cold climate.....

 

tom had posted pics of what happens to outdoor plants in the cold somewhere, but i don't know how to link to other posts sorry...... :D

 

as for the type of growth, someone else will have to help you there i'm afraid...

yeah well the plant is out doors and well ina cold climate too....and i saw toms pics...but only the tips of the buds and a bit of the lower buds are purple and well the rest is a real dark green....

but yar cheers for the info n e ways.. :D

hmmm could just be in the genetics, like a purple sativa or something or it could be a nutrient deficeincy too?

Purpling is commonly an indication of cold (there are purple strains), the purple plant I posted a picture of had been subjected to overnight Tassie temperatures of around 2 degrees Celsius so a plant in a mainland state would not be very likely to purple as much at this time of the year.

my outdorrs experiance says it a potassium problem causing purple, cold weather wont cause either only nutrient problems cause it,

 

I grew in Wellington NZ where its almost always under 14deg, even on a sunny day.
