God damn fan

Ok so i have this little irritating problem with a 6inch exhaust fan i ordered from Aussieponics.. (gotta luv em..). The fan has an ear piercing high pitch whistling that just does not go away. My other fan is nice and quiet (also 6inch exhaust). Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Has anyone else experienced something like this? Trying to start a grow diary but need to get this sh#t sorted out first.

This probably doesn't help you but from experience I can say that most equipment from Aussiponics sux balls...

hey not sure if will help but some fans change the pitch sound if you swap how you mount vert or horizontal.... i would just hold it then turn on move it every which way to see if it goes quiet...

i heard you can wrap your fan in like a sheet and it muffles it a bit, but usually theres a silencer on your filter system...if not buy one

well maybe its sucking air thru a small gap and acting like a whistle ? ... well find that little gap and jam some blu tack in there or something

 

i do agree with nouse that different positions can make a big difference ... like changing positions during sex can have your partner making sqealling noises too

 

i know its not relevant , but it just seemed to fit in

Thanks for the reply's guys. It was positional so now its vertical and a hell of alot quieter. Dude at aussieponics said he'd replace it if it keeps up which is good. Cheers all Edited June 11, 2009 by Monmon
