Hydroponics Industry Control Bill 2009

Recommended Posts

I see they're proposing to control sales of HID lighting 400W & up, reflectors, ballasts, carbon filters, bud strippers & light movers. Nutes and watering systems not mentioned in the draft.

400W is a common security light value. Wonder if hdwe and common lighting equip suppliers will have to fall in line or it sale will only be controlled if the seller is a specific 'hydroponics equip' retailer.

Would be almost impossible to control sale of non-hydro-specific nutes or watering systems. Aquarium shops and hdwe stores would be policed like never before.

I would like to see them try to restrict the rock and roll and TV/Film industries lighting guys to 400w lamps, they will be TOLD exactly where to go and how to get there in terms they will not be able to misinterpret!!

The average concert lighting rig contains over 100 x 1000w lamps, with spare lamps, reflectors etc. being carried at all times, just how will they prevent crews from transporting a couple of extras on each trip for people they know in the states they travel to?

Prohibition causes crime, but it does not stop trade from occurring.

If our politicians wish to legislate "things" out of existence they should start with themselves

They've been rather specific about the sort of lighting they want to restrict. Stage lighting is not generally HPS or MH. However, I don't see any prohibitions in the proposed legislation against driving to Vic or NSW & picking up some ballasts and HPS bottles nor against mail ordering. They're proposing only to stop SA residents from selling the stuff- so far. I don't think they've proposed criminalising simple possession nor transporting the goods.

Actually most of the "movables" are and they are becoming more and more common, it is true "par" cans are not but they can be used for the same purpose as can "Ray lights" lamps which are 240V Halogen lamps.

My point is that it does not matter what the Govt tries they will lose. There is simply no way they can prohibit /police all the items that can be used to grow hydr or any other way plants can grow,

It is nothing more than an exercise in human futility. The sooner we have these hypocrites charged with the human rights abuses they have perpetrated the better.

Have they made any moves yet to ban the "Aerogarden" advertised on Telly? Damned evil hydro setup that it is...........

There is no prohibition or bans of hps, mh lights or fittings or carbon filters in S.A.

but if you are apprehended with any of said items in your possession within S.A. and cannot provide a lawful excuse for their use then you will be arrested, charged and face jail for two years

Shit man ... I can't believe that ... ;) It just gets more absurd doesn't it :/

So the cops come around .. and you've got the gear just sitting there , not in use ... What happens here? , What about your recreational Hydro Vege grower?

Obviously if ya get sprung with Cannabis under Hydro your screwed , But just having the equipement , surely Anyone could say it was just for vege's .. no evidence could exist either for or against this claim (for tidy people heheh).Surely lol

And on the topic of getting others (non growers) to buy it for you , very simple really isn't it :D I've got no I.D. myself so I'd have to get someone to do that for me anyway if I were in the situation ... I'm a loner but sure even I would know at least 10 different people that would happily do that for me :) If people are into their "gardening" and plants , this can quite often garner respect where it wouldn't usually be garnered otherwise :D unusually.

So yeh , that combined with everything else mentioned already , Is going to do very little to affect the Cannabis Growing Culture I would think.

Happy Growing All :/

so you think telling them you have a carbon filter for growing tomatos will work lol ...

then you get someone else to buy for you ... thats fair enuf ...

then the someone's details are forwarded to the cops (as proposed ) and they drop in to see what someone has done with this equipment, but someone has given items he has no lawful use for, to another person :sly: ...

those someone's get nervous with cops leaning on them with threats of charges of supplying equipment used in the manufacture / production of drugs, and bingo ...

game over :yinyang:

All comes down to the fact that growing dope and any money involved in it, is not going into government coffers.

Suffer I say to the government....It's a non argument as far as health concerns related to the drug go because we all know that alcohol is a huge burden to the health system costing hundreds of millions if not billions when you weigh up all the problems associated with it.

These laws are bullshit and they wont get far with it.

my local hydroponic shop man said the police tried to get shop owners to give information to police regarding customer purchases. W.A hydro shop owners apparently said F**k off

pretty sure the same will happen over there in S.A
