ALAN Davidson grew 181 cannabis plants to ease his back pain.

That's the reason his solicitor gave to Rockhampton's Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Barrister Dave Murray said Davidson didn't have the knowledge or sophistication to pull off a commercial drug operation.

The 38-year-old, whose partner and two young children were present in court, pleaded guilty to production and possession of dangerous drugs.

Davidson was raided by Gladstone police on September 19, 2007 on his Rosedale property, near Agnes Water.

Crown prosecutor Noel Needham said police found cannabis growing in a number of areas, inside and outside his house. In a tin garden shed were 29 plants ranging from 5cm to 50cm.

There was a water tank with pipes leading to several other gardens. In another garden there were 52 plants in 10cm pots, 20cm to 5cm in size.

A total of 181 plants were seized and 672g of dried cannabis from inside his home.

On Tuesday he was sentenced to 18 months prison and a $500 fine. He was released on immediate parole.

Geez that's a bit harsh.

There is no good reason to have hundreds of plants for back pain. 4 1mtr x 1mtr square screens with a 1kw lights atop would net all the dope he'd need for Chronic Back pain' sure as hell wouldn't go to jail for that; 10 of them would still keep you out of the clink. No self respecting Judge and Jury could have bought that one.

That's true SmokinJoe ,

But maybe that sums it up ... A few pipes from a watertank? , 5-10-20cm pots? ... :D Doesn't sound like he was a Pro by any means :)

And If your not well versed in what you are doing , then there is bound to be a higher failure rate ... He could have been constantly killing his plants , getting males and battling the many outdoor hazards etc etc :D in which case ... 181 plants (mostly seedlings by the sounds) isn't really that many , maybe? ...

And funnily enough , 672gms is Exactly 1 and 1/2 Pounds ... not over the top for medicinal usage in a year , smoking Joints uses up a shitload of weed compared to say Bongs or Pipes ... letalone if you only Ate Cannabis in Foods :)

So yeh , who knows ... Unfortunatly he pleaded guilty to "Dangerous Drug" charges ... (another clue as to his competence?) ...

Obviously Cannabis is NOT dangerous in any way whatsoever , so this is Not Good at all ...

What happened to the term "Prohibited Drug"??? ... Oh yeah silly me , Rockhampton , QLD! :yahoo: sheesh

O.k. then , I wouldn't have gone to jail for this , but then I'm noones fool either ... Still feel sorry for the bloke tho :) How can they lock him up when he's got 2 young kiddies? (reads down) oh yeh thats right , they didn't :D Instant "parole".

So the title of this Topic is somewhat misleading :P Strategically well done tho ... only title better would have been "SEX" :D advertising really works aye ;)

Heheh , anyhoo ... Cheerz all , and keep growing ... anywhere under 181 plants (so far) is permissable now o.k. , with just a slightly harsh slap to the wrist regions :toke:

This makes me feel better when I tell people there is no way they will go to jail for just 20 or so plants these days , I was very confident I was right and have heard nothing to contradict this since. :peace:

Stay Safe All :) and Beware the Swine-Blue

Budman :)

In WA if you get busted with more than 3.5 kg of cannabis material (wet or dry leaf stalk roots ) it is called trafficking they confiscate everything you own & 3rd offence is mandatory life imprisonment It is an evil law & all it has done has turned people into using powder less trouble 2 be busted with 27 grams of heroin or meth than 3.5 kg of wet leaf

Got busted myself in 2002 & was declared a drug trafficker when I only had after drying enough 4 my own smoke 4 the year just. I lost everything regardless of how I obtained it it is Criminal Confisication Act. They left me with family photos & $200 worth of clothing they even took my kids beds sheets all furniture, they did leave me my cooking & eating gear probably as it was worthless.

From then on I gave them the finger & now do grow lots screw them
