Just read the first link and the first few comments are not good.

People are allowed to make their own "medicine" as long as they have a prescription? Can I get a license to grow poppies in my back yard for the opioids for my back pain? This opens the possibility of self sufficiency to manufacture one's own narcotics at a cheaper rate than a pharmacy! An "enlightened" individual could find many "legitimate" uses for most narcotics that are currently illegal. Or we could just call this what it is, a farce, and put a stop to it now before it goes too far.

What? Legalize pot in the middle of a recession? How many people would that put on the dole? Probably more than closing all the auto plants in Canada.

Ah yes, more "medical" marijuana stupidity.

brightsgrove, Tuesday, May 26, 2009

400k adults, that is 1 in 30 adults using medical pot.....WOW only 600 get from gov. add in recreational users, and that is a lot of Pot. WOW add in beer and booze, coke, prescrip drugs, laziness. any wonder anything gets done in canada....

Then it gets better with pro legalisation comments

The thing is, with that poppy argument which comes up every now and again, poppies are full of different chemicals you just don't need, whereas Cannabis has no chemicals that we know of that aren't beneficial. Since the whole plant works better than just THC. Although maybe THC and CBD are all we need, I dunno.

But also for instance poppies contain different levels of chemicals in every flower, so you can't get the dose as easily, and if you only need codeine, you can't do that, unless you have chemistry skills you'll be getting morphine too. Plus it's pretty addictive so getting prescriptions takes away a level of abuse potential, lets your doc know how much you're using etc.

Although I'm not saying to bring this up Allison , most people don't think about it and we should probably keep it that way hehe

Hi luciddreaming...

Thanx for the comment too doll... ;)

Poppies can and have been used as medicine for centuries. Actually I am one of the few that have been able to try medical heroin without much luck I might add... What we say at LEAP is the harder the drug the more it needs to be regulated and controlled and kept away from our children. Not ALL drugs in my opinion should be made available for social use.... but they SHOULD be regulated and legalized in order to take back control from the streets. ;)
