Electricity.........

Residents of NSW will face increases in their electricity bills by 20%(21% in some cases). With this in mind I have a few questions....

 

 

1) Digital Ballasts- If you believe the literature produced by the makers of these products they claim of up to 20% decrease in power usage. For those who use these products are these claims true?

 

2)LCD grow lights- Producers of these products claim anywhere btw 20-75% reduction in power consumption. I am yet to come across anyone on this forum who has had any success with this type of lighting. If there is how about some feedback.

 

3) Will the cost of cannabis increase in line with the power bills?

To No. 3, Hydro might. Outdoors ... prolly not.

 

Never used a digiballaster.

 

But it's just more reason to grow from clones, mix CF's (hot n cool) with HID lights and perhaps upscale your lights as the grow progesses (only so much leafage can convert so much lightage in any given area).

Giving your lights more breaks (thru rotation) would make 'em last longer and prolly save you $'s in the long run too.

 

Can a digital ballast pulsate the intensity of the light?

I think that could work well for both plant and electricity bills.

god the people on there seem touchy about LED lighting

 

my personal point of view though is that i will wait until the technology becomes cheaper for 1 and better as technology always does... HPS by comparison is screw all.

 

I would assume the electricity prices would affect the overall price as the growers have too factor everything in so they get their tidy profits too buy fancy new LED lights and shit

Hey there Flatcat,

Welcome to OS. am currently using 2 / 1000 Lumatek digitals . have been for 9 months . cant really comment on power usage as they are all i have used .

They are reliable so far and run much cooler , in there spiel online they quote 20% cheaper to run , ??? They are also more expensive , but for me . i would buy again. Some years back ,they did have problems . apparently all solved ??

I dont really worry about power .as i only grow for me the power bill is irrevelant ,it beats dealing with shady CHARACTERS
