I read this in New Scientist this week, It was BRIEFLY mentioned in their Soundbites section. I came on here looking for more information and was suprised to find no mention of it on here. I hit up Google to find a couple of links for us all.

I did hear someone mention it the other day, but never gave it much thought. After reading a bit about it, it does sound promising. Here's hoping it gets off the ground.

It is good to see Arnie leaning towards the correct thing to do. Celebrities have more pulling power towards your 'average person' than any politician ever has. Hopefully with Arnie's mix of movies, fitness and politics it can be a pull towards the greener side of the fence for those who have remained undecided or have ignored the whole legalization debate.

Well caught Indy! Corrected the link.

I think there is a deeper relevance for the US. They are about to sign on to a deficit level approaching 80% GDP surely another taxable luxury item is exactly the stimulus the western economies need. Remember, prohibition of alcohol was over-turned in a similar economic climate. Obama has said he wants science to guide policy in his government, not the other way round... Even if this just generates hours and hours of right-wing radio chatter, surely some of the listeners can see the benefits of clearing out jails and generating tax from (us) people that will go ahead and smoke anyway. Hell I'd rather my money went to schools and health-care than another body-kitted Supra any day!
