Best Hydropnic method for begginers

Hi Guys,

I am about halfway through my first grow, growing 15 plants in pots of coco under a 600w HPS light in a grow tent. I was thinking about doing a more advanced Hydroponic setup for my next grow as it is very time consuming watering each of the buckets. I was thinking of building a ebb and flow system nut I wanted to get some advice about what everyone here thinks is the easiest hydroponic system to use and also what everyone believes is the best hydroponic system to use.

Any advice would be great, also if someone could give me some advice on building a system or point me in the direction of a web page that would be fantastic

Look at the principles of ebb and flow. Recirculating nute and so on and so forth.

THen i recon just design your own system that best suites your space and type of crop u plan to grow. For example if it is sea of green you prefer ( lots of little plants crammed into small space) then that will ultimately affect how you design your system. Alternatively if u prefer fewer but larger plants then your system will be designed diff again.

However having said all that my fav system is this. Look at the pic in the link.

******************* (not endorsing these guys simply first site with a good pic of what im talking about)

I think the crop box is best because it is simplistic. Another key feature is that it is modular meaning u can add or subtract from its size easily and mould your tubs to suite any size room. Also it will take sea of green or one large plant per box very flexible system.

WIth the pros comes the negetives

The system can be hard to fully flush because u have lots of little reserviors instead of a single large. Plus the drain cannot be on the very bottom (well it can but generally isnt). This makes it easier for disease to build up.

Hope that helps

Thanks Jimbo, I was thinking about a recirculating system as I have heard that this allows you to keep less plants, which grow bigger and produce more Buds....whats your experience? have you tried any other methods? what made you settle on a recirculating system?

Raven6,

As jimbo said a recirulating system is the way to go, doesnt matter if its in pots tubs or buckets as long as the have sufficient room for adequate root growth.

With Australias primitive M/J laws keeping plant numbers down is paramount.

Some grow systems and techniques for u to research raven6 are, DWC/ KRUSTY BUCKETS/ SCROG.

1lb per plant under a 600w is highly achievable.

Forget about any methods that require high plant numbers unless you willing to do time if u get pinched.

Happy growing.

Well I've always used a recirculating system since day one - a must if you are using hydroton (clay balls) since there is no water retention in the medium and they will need watering every few hours.

A recirculating system will water any number of plants - from 1 to 30+ - and is easily expandable.

I've tried SOG with 4 plants per sq ft in trays but didn't like the results so these days I prefer to grow 4 plants to a sq metre tree/bush style, the harvest size is much better and the plants appreciate the added vege time giving them bigger, better root mass which in turn gives you bigger, better buds.

Here is a link to a how-to for a recirculating system

Hope that helps,

ohh n hand water nothin eaiser than that, unless u talkin bigger automated systems leave em for fe days n forget, but more settin up there

a small scale recirculating system is REALLY easy too build... seriously. It is so simple as a concept... res, pump, pipe, grommets, a few 90 degree bends and so on. a pair of scissors.

i am setting mine up now and the only reason it isn't already working is i am so determined for it too be absolutely perfect and keep having better ideas.

WHATS UP MAN......the easest and cheepest...around KY U.S.A. anyway.......is the 'Water Farms" by General Hydroponics....I'll tell you why...I went to the local hydro store with a list of what I needed to build a re-circ. system and he showed me the Water Farms....they are $55.00 and come with everything you need....it even comes with the 3 part nutes that lasted me well into flowering......you plug them in and walk away...all I do now is top them off daily and Ph them.......way easer than building the buckets youself.....and tons cheaper....the materal list I had would of cost me $100.00 per bucket...water farms are way better than homemade....I have a SATIVA in one that is over 11 feet tall....be prepared....they grow massive when there in the Farms.....hope this helps and good luck.........PEACE
