Stems, diffusers and glass blowers...

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I bought myself a nice diffuser off of EDIT, having made a rough guess at the length of my current stem.

I ended up buying a diffuser that was just a tiny bit too long, and doesn't seal up properly because the end of the diffuser presses against the chamber of my bong.

I was wondering if there is a way I can shorten a diffuser? I know with stems they can be cut shorter, but because of the end that diffusers have, that can't be done.

I heard that maybe a glass blower could heat it up and compress it or something, thus making it shorter.

Has anyone heard about this?

Or any other suggestions? I don't wanna fork out another $25 shipping there and back to get it swapped over for a smaller one...I'd much rather pay that $25 to a glass blower who could do it for me that day.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, that's why I was hoping someone might have had some experience. This fella called Peter Minson (Glassblower from NSW) is giving me advice via emails now, and he reckons he could cut a section out and then rejoin it. It wouldn't look pretty, but it'd work.

So I think I'll take it somewhere maybe even today, see what I can get done.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.
