DESPITE being found with cannabis worth about $115,000, a man claimed it was all for personal use, Nowra Local Court was told yesterday.

Pleading not guilty to a charge of supplying cannabis, Rene John Drygan, 61, of Seasongood Road, Woollamia, was ordered to stand trial in the Nowra District Court.

He will also face sentencing in the District Court on a range of other drugs and firearm charges to which he pleaded guilty.

Evidence presented to the Nowra Local Court on Tuesday stated Drygan, who was at the time owner of the Nowra Hydroponic Supplies Store, had been under investigation for some time before police raided his home in September 2008.

Inside the home police found nearly 10kg of dried cannabis, much of it vacuum sealed in plastic zip-lock bags.

In addition 29 cannabis plants were found in two rooms set aside to hydroponic growing systems, while a few were also outside.

Police evidence presented to the court stated Drygan admitted owning and growing all the cannabis, claiming it was all for personal use.

Despite the large amount of cannabis found, the evidence stated Drygan admitted smoking cannabis “occasionally” when he suffered from arthritic pain.

Also within the home police found more than $20,000 in cash, which they suspected to be the proceeds of Drygan selling cannabis, however he said it was from 20 years of cash transactions within his business.

Also located in the home was a semi-automatic .22 rifle within an unlocked bedroom cupboard, and a cross-bow on top of another cupboard.

Checks revealed Drygan at one stage held a shooter’s licence, but it was cancelled in 1998.

Drygan will face the District Court at a date to be fixed.’

They can't really prove what the money was from but they don't really have to prove it anyway coz their cops, they can just speculate.

But I highly doubt he would have 10kg sitting around not for personal use. I mean why wouldn't he have sold it already?

I dunno though, maybe they just caught him right after harvest or something.

Bummer... he owns the hydroponic store.. he's probably been tryin all shit out and got a heap of bud for personal use.. imagine that never needing to get on.. and picking what you want to smoke... yea i don't think you'd have 10kg around if you were distributing.. but also the law is over 500g or 100 plants so he'll have to prove it was for personal use but i know of people caught with pounds that have said it was all personal and they just harvested for the year etc.

good luck nowra dude.
