hey guys new member, i am a member on grass city but i wanted to come onto a Aus forum for a very specific reason.

In other states (WA,NT,ACT,SA) it has been decriminalized, why not Victoria?

i have only one loose connection to my local MP and i was wondering if their was any movement or organization/group that is pushing for the decriminalization of cannabis in Victoria because i sure cant find it.

from what i can tell those other states did not need a group or organization to pass the legislation but it looks like that is not the case in Vic.

can someone please point me in the right direction or would anyone be interested in forming such a group or even set up a petition or campaign?

South Aus you can now grow two plants OUTDOORS. ACT don't know the number but it is under federal law so I guess they can make it up as the moment arises. All other states are fucked as to how much you can grow, possess, smoke or eat. It is only tolerated in SA. The present fucked up gov there are in for a big shock come election time. :scratchin:

when I lived in ACT (10 years ago) it went like ... you weren't allowed to grow any but it was tolerated if you only grew below a certain number - maybe that meant it was decriminalised but that isn't the term that is used. It was certainly relaxed at concerts etc. to roll up. .... no idea what it is like nowadays

As far as I know NSW also has a 3 plant limit or maybe it's two now, I know they changed the number allowed just recently. WA I think has similar. ACT covered, NT no idea, SA covered. Now Vic has decriminalisation but it is only for possession of under 15 grams or some petty BS like that. And yes all states you still get a fine for whatever their various decriminalisation levels are. I give a big fuck you to my parents everyday "You just had to choose Victoria to live didn't ya" jk

Ah here it is. That site clearly isn't reliable coz right under they say this....

NSW

If someone is caught with up to 15 grams of cannabis in NSW, they may receive a 'caution' from the police officer, which includes information about the harms association with cannabis use and a number to call for drug-related information or referral. Only two cautions are allowed to be given to the same person.

Victoria

A police officer may give someone a caution and offer them the opportunity to attend a cannabis education program if they are caught with no more than 50 grams of cannabis. Like NSW, only two cautions are allowed to be given to the one person.[/b]

Tasmania

Someone found in the possession of up to 50 grams of cannabis can be given a caution up to three times in ten years. For the first caution, information and referral is provided. A brief intervention is given with the second caution. On the third and final caution, the offender must be assessed for drug dependence and attend either a brief intervention or treatment program.

Queensland

Police officers in Queensland offer someone the option of diversion if they are found in possession of up to 50 grams of cannabis. This is the only state in which diversion must be offered to a minor cannabis offender - elsewhere, it is up to the police officers whether or not they offer diversion or charge the offender. The diversion includes a mandatory assessment and brief intervention program. Only one offer of diversion is allowed per person.

That is a form of decriminalisation. It says it's up to the cop whether or not they give fines or sentencing or something. So if you're in Vic BE NICE IF YOU GET BUSTED!

serial_chiller we have a challenge on right now in Victoria and are right now waiting to get into the high court, that should happen within the next 8 weeks according to the registrar of the high court today. So if you want a fight we need any support including being at the court when the case gets up.

See most of either lightning's posts or mine most of them have something to do with the case.
