Cool Tubes

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using these, Problems or anything like that, i hear their good because you can lower your lamp to get more lumens with less risk of the hear, but i haven't read too much about it from people.

Cool tubes are alright if u have heat issues, just stay way from the cheap chinese ones as they crack easy I have found.

the first generation cool tubes had super fine cracks u couldnt see and over time the crack got bigger for me i think it was a couple of weeks (could have been days i cant remember but it wasnt long) before they cracked so i pissed them off and just recently tryed the newer cool tube and its working as it should altho i would suggest getting rid of the internal reflector that comes with most of them these days as it limits the light alot insted put the cool tube (once the reflector is removed) into an adjusta shade and u will have a great light with nice coverage

Thats exactly what happened with mine Gazz started off as a small hair line crack! Good to hear the new ones a better, havent tried the new ones because like u I gave them the arse becuase of the cracking.

would the glass affect the lumen output? or would the fact that you can have the light lower outweigh it any potential loss?

yeah I heard u do get some lumen loss never checked it with a lux meter, but your probably right in assuming that being able to have the light closer to the plant will counter the lumen loss i would say.

 

The ablites are top notch
