You'll have to call Alexa Web Ranking Service and tell them they're full of crap, then:

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/norml.org = 31,123rd most popular website worldwide, average time on site 3.5 min/day, 1,444 inbound links, reaching 0.00412% of worldwide audience.

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/ozstoners.com = 422,142nd most popular website worldwide, average time on site 1.3 min/day, 25 inbound links, reaching 0.00029% of worldwide audience.

I guess I used the wrong words " full of shit " is not quite accurate , more to the point is they are Inacurate figures that rely on webmaster participation and to be fully successfull and more accurate the web master has to allow the service or an affiliating service to datamine .

5 robots are allowed here , thats it which is their primary source of information , we also intentionaly trash dom-logs on a cron task so that not even our host has time to mine the data I'm actually pretty impressed they got what they have  but it tells me allot likely comes from google and their wonderfull " personalised searching clause "

as an example to what I'm saying

Daily pageviews per user for ozstoners.com:

7 day avg 2.2

1 month avg 2

3 month avg 1.6

3 month change 7%

The actual statistical information from the server today is over 450 pages per user who has visited since the last log clear ( which is actually not accurate eighter as the spiders we do allow here go nuts ).

Really statistics are for those trying to impress and who generally have financial intrest in the site or peopel to answer to about stats :) we are just trying to do our part providing what we can here, a huge part of that is keeping our members and their information as safe as possible , we actively do what we can to avoid people like alexa frombeingable to collect information here as we feel it's irrelivant for our needs.

We allow very restricted access to the larger sites like google because ofcourse we want to get our name out there and make ourselfs easier to find for australians looking for this type of site or looking for the information that we provide but we don't feel that many people would really use something like alexa to do that with. I can totally understand it for your needs but not really a point to it for ours .

That's fantastic. You have 22,345 registered members. Now, has that translated into any mentions of OzStoners in the Australian media? Has the director of OzStoners testified in front of Parliament? Has OzStoners joined onto any lawsuits meant to overturn prohibition? Has OzStoners produced any legitimate peer-reviewed cannabis research? What are the latest book titles from OzStoner's researchers? In other words, has OzStoners provided much other than a place to chat and look at cannaporn?

Wow :) I think it's safe to say that your a jack ass if this is how you come across all the time

No we would love to do that kind of stuff or more to the point help suport that kind of stuff finacially but we are not a big corperation who can afford things like that , and in australia we have a big problem with the lack of freedom of speach meaning it would likely be illegal matierial in some of our states and very unlikely to be touched by a printers.

You guys must be making some serious dosh from your non-profit organisation to afford that kinda stuff during a recession. we have enough trouble paying off server costs some months

:) How did you get your job Russ? Do you do any research other than net traffic figures (figures it turns out are inaccurate anyway) The director of Ozstoners has done everything he can within his capacity. ie provide a website where people can unite to yes look at cannaporn (is that a bad thing?) and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on growing and medicating and more importantly law reform. There are members on this site who have done all of those things you have listed and more. Does it matter that is wasn't Oz himself? Prompting Ozstoners isnt the aim here Russ. Law reform is. Norml is either with us or not. If they are, that's great. If the promotion of the NORML brand name is the primary agenda though, you might as well piss of back to your net figures research now because you arn't needed here.

Things Oz and or I have passed up because we don't feel personal fame and popularity is of higher important than our members safety have been

Two bbc interviews turned down

One national Radio broadcast (jjj's Hack)

GTv we happened to miss when they came here though they tried to catch up wtih us

and as mongy said many of the other members like brash , grace , niall and others have certainly done or tried allot of the other things.

As I brought up before , what works elsewhere doesn't nessecerally work the same other places , it would be great to have freedom of speach , of the press or even a bill of rights in general would be nice and definatly make things easier to do without risk of imediate prossecusion. Infact if I had the freedom and protection of the american bill of rights and constitution then I and I'm sure hundreds of thousands of other australians would be out there rallying on a weekly basis in the capitol cities , the way things stand what we risk from doing so is the destruction of our carreers , criminal charges , jail time , whatever the offece " calls" suitable

It's sad but true

Even though Australia has signed all five international treaties that make up the the International Bill of Human Rights, none of these treaties are legally binding in Australia. Nor is there is a Bill of Rights in the Australian Constitution. This means that the fundamental rights and freedoms of everyone living in Australia are not protected by the law.

What it ultimately boils down to, in my eyes anyway, is that NORML is not interested or inclined to have an Australian Chapter and even if we did form one little if any resources or time would be devoted by the organisation to reforming Australian law.

As a result, we need to form a similar, but different, local organisation which is solely dedicated to reforming cannabis law in Australia. That will require significant organisation, time and effort on the parts of those interested. This is primarily, (or was when I spent more time here than recently) a growing and information forum, not a drug law reform organisation. It can be a starting point though, and we can gather together likeminded individuals who are interested in donating time, money and expertise to fix the current state of affairs.

Anyone come up with a half decent acronym for an Australian organisation? May just go and start a different thread on this. I do recall a thread I may have started a loooooooong time ago on this subject and it also went nowhere, and I recall sending an email to NORML myself a few years back and it was promptly ignored. So if they won't help, we have to help ourselves.

This has been a very interesting thread.

Some good points on both sides, i say sides because the impression i get is the old USA

your either with us or against us attitude. This does not sit well with me, as i suspect it does not

with most OZZIES.

We really need to from our own ORG, maybe when established it could affiliate with NORML??

The ORG would need a SOLID direction, a SET charter of what we think OUR RIGHTS

should be.

Who gets to use C and what for?

WHEN? WHERE? HOW?

How much can you grow / store?

Age restrictions ?

These all need to be SET and Voted on in a democratic way.

Its plenty of work, and yes costs $$$

As mentioned above its so hard in AUS because we have no bill of rights to protect us.

We pretty much live in a police state, and not many people are willing to stick there neck out

risk career, family, jail time ect for it...

Niall i would be interested in joining such an ORG and having a say. ??publicly?? but i will say this

if it was a dedicated ORG with a vision and direction, i would be happy to pay 20 bucks a month or

something for membership, to cover costs, like getting lawyers involved , studies at UNI's ect.
