Call to end drug prohibition

Recommended Posts

Presented by Phillip Adams

There's a growing realisation that the current policies employed in fighting the war on drugs are not working. Tackling the supply side has resulted in thousands of deaths and the destruction of families and societies.

The focus is now turning towards curbing the demand side of illegal drugs by legalising them. This is attracting support from even those who have spent their lives fighting the war on drugs.

A member of the Law Enforcement Against Prohibition and former federal agent with the US Border Patrol, the US Customs Service and the Department of Homeland Security.

Yup, one third (at least) have admitted (been brave enough to admit it) when asked, ref'd from a govt. booklet, info from a govt. branch, the govt. pulled the booklet off their site a few months after uploading it. :yinyang:

Probably many, many more than a third of the population, given it's concentrations in many areas I am sure are outside the surveying jurisdiction of NDARC. B)

Unfortunately, 2-party political systems aren't very conducive to liberalised drug laws, need more significant swingers out there and the greens lost their balls years ago (hardened their anti-mj, anti-mdma policies a few years back).

Now it's all pulpmills this and endangered whales that, decriminalisation is just not a vote-winner.
