A challenge

Recommended Posts

So, there are some folks that have grown here (ya think, cheeba?), I have seen some pretty impressive results.

As it happens, some space has become available at a mates place and we're considering a joint venture...I know that probably rings alarm bells for most but I've known the guy for years, his place is secure, he's not a pothead, and he has no "contacts", that stuffs all pretty much on my end. Long story short, I've trusted him with more.

Between us, we now have a 600w?HPS? Son T Agro, a large lockable wardrobe (about a metre front to back, 1.5 side to side, and rather tall) which we can modify to our needs, and 10 "designer" seeds from someplace in Amsterdam.

We also have a $250.00 budget for "whatever else" we need.

As you will see from a thread I made before (https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/index.php?showtopic=23244) we know very little.

Ideally, we want user friendly, we want generic/alternative bits and peices, and we want no great amount of stink.

6oz per, is the figure we're going for, he'd rather we kept it to 2-at-a-time, which I think is wise enough for the beginner.

So, does anyone here think they can "design" a system that meets these requirements?

Of course, not physically design, but yknow, give ideas and a bit of a shopping list within (or just above) our budget?

I look forward to at least checking out some cool info, reply here or in pm if ya like.

Thanks.

read read n read some more,

hydro or dirt

are u gonna keep a mom and use clones, do u have space for them

ventilation #1 priority in a wardrobe overkill to the death is always the best way

the 600w is a nice light, might consider a 900x900mm scrog and give yourself a foot for a narrow mother cab if u only got 10 good seeds i recomend keeping a mom

bonsai works well for mothers search oldtimer1's bonsai moms it'll be around somewhere (maybe icmag?)

done right with a big fan for exhaust and some passive inlets 900mm square screen under a 600 with practice and dialing everything in 9-10 would be a very easy target every 10-12 weeks

G'day Cheeba,

Good to hear your settin up a grow with your mate .. good friends can be hard to find ;)

I'm in a bit of a typing mood so I thought i'd have a go at your "challenge" :peace: Though I don't think I could tell you anything new really ..

Like Aero said , there is alot of info on setting up cupboard grows in the forums , Sukonmiskunk's Thread is a good one to start on if you haven't read it : Setting up a Wardrobe Grow

You'll need to tell us what style of grow you intend to do also .. like medium type and watering method .. this'll help us to help you lol , maybe a Pic of the Cupboard would help too.

As was mentioned , ventilation is key with a confined grow , not really a huge expense ... good ventilation will help with the smell but you may need to invest in some type of filter if you really need to disguise the smell during flowering .. not so cheap as far as I'm aware ... lol

If it is a tall cupboard as you mentioned ... you may even be able to divide it into 2 sections , a small one with a fluro or something for clones/seedlings/Veg and the main section for Veg/Flower lol One on the top , one on the bottom ...

If it were me and I was to do it simply as possible ... i'd use just perlite (cheap in 100L bags) in 2 or 3 big pots (1.5m) with trays , handwatered with controlled A+B Nutrient solution , flush regularly ofc , light on adjustable chain system ,inside of cupboard painted matt white or lined with reflective foil for reflection optimization , passive (or pc fans) inlet vents in both sides of the bottom of cupboard and a larger outtake at the top or in the roof etc with ventilation shaft leading outside to dissipate the smell ...

Um .. I think that's about it for a very basic setup ... I would definatly try and have the 2-part cupboard like I mentioned .. this will make things alot easier and quicker for you as you go :x

O.k. Hope that wasn't all too bleedingly obvious :)

Good Luck with it all and I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do ... No doubt you'll receive plenty of helpful advice here around here ;)

Cheerz mate,

Budman :yinyang:

Heya guys, thanks for taking the time.

You've given some good info and food for thought.

I mean, essentially I've only got to go really "ghetto" on my first grow, all going well eh?

Still mainly for perso, but if it needs improvement, it needs improvement ha.

Again thanks for the suggestions, I might hit you guys back up with some further specs.

- B.
