Decorating my bong...

Recommended Posts

Well, I only have one bong at the moment, but I really like her.

I don't have a pic, but it's a standard Pyrex bong, about 60-70cms long. Hits well, but looks dull.

I was considering painting it, but I wasn't sure what to use.

Has anyone here ever painting a bong before?

I want it to be kind of a dark blue, but still transparent...how would I go about doing that?

Once I've got that done, I'll just paint designs over the top with oil paint, I'm thinking.

I'll post pics if it works out :peace:

Thanks in advance!

Well I know there are paints designed for glass at places like Spotlight, Bunnings and craft shops

But I don't know how long they take to dry, and whether they can be handled after drying without coming off on your fingers.

I found a you tube video about glass painting .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XT-84HwGyY

If you know someone with Hobbytex paints I do know they can be painted on glass easily, but they can't be put in dishwashers or really hot water later on or else it will melt off.

Hopefully someone else who has painted pyrex will come in with more specific advice.

i would recommend using the paints that are used to make a stained glass effect, once it's on there and dried it's pretty resilient. and as MP advised they can be aquired from most craft supply stores, you may even be lucky in finding them at a decent bunnings.

the other option which i have considered. I believe you can also get spraypaint for glass. grab a can of that and it should cover the whole job.

If you were looking at non-transparent and had a bit of spare dosh I would also recommend automotive paints, which can either be airbrushed on, or painted with a paintbrush.

They are my suggestions... good luck. :)

Once upon a time I was smoking with this chick in her parents garage out of her dads glassy.

We got pretty stoned and decided to paint it with nail polish. It turned out awesome but due to the lack of ventilation in the garage the fumes spun us both out :)

So yeah nail polish works great if you've got a few spares hanging around, but don't spend a couple of hours painting it while inadvertantly creating a dutch oven of polish fumes :) (and when dad gets home deny everything :peace: )

Ok, so I just realised there is paint designed for glass, and it's translucent, too.

So I'm going to buy some of that. Anyone got any ideas of what I should decorate it like? My original plan was to go like, translucent dark blue/purple all over, and paint opaque white designs (just swirls and shit) all over it. Or, paint it translucent green with an opaque black outline of a cannabis leaf somewhere on the neck.

I'm not overly artistic, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :peace:

Go to Spotlight and get the Ceramic paint. after painting it on, you put it in the oven to set it.

Seeing you have a pyrex bong, it will be fine.

The ceramic paint comes in jars/bottles and in a marker pen.

Same area as the glass paint.
