Hydro meter buzzing?

Been indoor farming for years, big and small, but never had this before... Maybe someone can help? Our hydro meter all of a sudden started humming when we turn all 10 1000w HPS on. We've had the same setup for 3 years here, with no problems. The ballasts are in a professionally wired metal box, with breakers. The flip is pro too. All of a sudden the meter starts humming LOUD, can hear it from inside the house. When we turn some lights off, its quieter. The only thing that has changed was that the setup used to be in the basement, now its out in the shop. All the same equipment. When we first put it in the shop, it wasnt humming (or maybe we didnt notice it?). Any ideas? Do meters "wear out" from too much juice for too long? This place has been going for years, from previous owners too.
