And why?

I know each person has their own particular method, some may be similar...but what methods are you using and why? Of course the two key words are sog and scrog but within each of thse there are vast varieties....so if anyone feels like going into a bit of detail about what we shall call a theoretical setup...including style of growing and wattage

Feel free.....Ive been scrogging it for the last 5 years and am looking to ditch the mesh and do something different...and no not have 200 plants on the go at once.... lol

hi there,

I dont even really know what scrog and sog are, yes i read what the initials mean but havent found a web site or anything that shows this in laymans terms ie how the hell do you actually do it, i read everywhere it says what to do but not how to do it, i mean you have this net yeah, but then what??

Myself I use a fllod and drain setup, its 2 stacker boxes the bottom has nutes the top has the medium and plants, the medium i use is hydroton, i have a nute heater, and 400 hps, I have this in a large wardrobe, with a extraction fan in the ceiling sucking hot air out, the nutrient is pumped in to the top box 15 minutes in every hour, then it drains back to the bottom, the light is on 24 hours a day, and the nutrient mix is tested daily for Ph levels and PPM of the m,ix using a truncheon,

pretty simple setup, I have tried variuos other methods including selfwatering pots with perlite, it just killed the plants, Im not super good at growing so i use the flood and drain on a automatic set up with timers etc, i have never lost a plant in this and infact my brother has the mother plant and he doesnt do anything to it doesnt alter ph levels, doesnt test PPM doesnt heat the nutrient mix and has a 400watt light, he uses a weird setup where the roots are open to the air and the plants are supported by a net, his nutrient constantly flows accross the roots, he has good success with his system, but my yeild is almost double of what his is.

Actually regarding the SCROG... screen of green...method.. I've read around a fair bit on this.. Seems to me that the idea is to put in the screen and then let your mj grow under the screen... so the branches are spread evenly underneath... And the idea is to get a bud to form at each hole in the screen.. Is that realistic? I mean maybe you would be luck to get a bud from one in every 4 holes - depending on strain I'd guess.. And another thing that I have found no mention of whatsoever is.. how much pressure do the plants exert upwardly on the screen??

Yhe I have just tried the scrog method again...screen o green....and basic principle was one flowering site for one gap in the mesh...and fuck it it everything looked perfect......until it dried out and then I cursed something kronic...

You guys had to see it to beleive how good they looked...and then a crap yield.....Im losing faith.....

I dont think I will be using superbud this time round...I find it also lessens the quality of the smoke......

Almost a 2m x 2m scrog...mesh 1 foot above pots...almost completely filled mesh...25 litre pots..extremely healthy plants...used superbud...so no donkey dick buds...but golf balls like rock......3 plants......u need more....

In fact I almost cried with the yield.....now I have to put up with shit smoke for the next while

Yeah? I think I read another post by you about this.... more like eight plants for a 2x2 huh? Oh yes... about the screen.. did you notice much pressure on the screen as your plants grew under it and how much tying did you have to do? Sorry to drive a needle in your brain like this dud...but I just gotta..

once you have your initial 6 branches you just train them out at 45 degree angles so theat the middles of your plants come up and when they come up you train them out as well and wait for more middles to come up till you get to the pint where it look pretty full...and then once they hit the mesh keep pulling the tips underneath the mesh. Only do this when there is ample to pull down and thread under the mesh...and as the branches get longer along those branches new flowering sites will open up.

You must make sure you have thick branches as when you open up all these flowering sites you need to be able to get more nutrient to them all.

I have found that the budz which are the biggest are on the biggest stems....might just be me noticing this with my babies.....

I think silica helps with this stem thickening

You never want to pull your plants down below a 45 degree angle it slwos their growth, but once you get to the mesh you dont have much choice.

More plants is better scrogging it...less time is needed to train everything
