digital ballast?

Has anyone got a light meter? I think what needs to be done is the growlush bulbs need to be checked for luminousity.

That said, I got the grow lush 600W combo the other week (posted elsewhere), left it a few days due to other issues and thought I better just check em before theyve sat for too long. Ballast 1 was fine, ballast2 - soon as i threw the switch a big crack came from my power point, threw the earth leakage. Wont turn on again - now its dead. Emailed aussiepon, at least I dont have to pay freight back they gave me there courier number so at least they seem to be honouring the warranty... so far.

Ive been looking at digital dimming ballasts from a chinese company. 3 year warranty, 120+freight for a 1K, 78+freight for 600. Thats USD. I'm guna give it a go and buy 2 600s. Only works out about 40USD for freight and nothing ventured nothing gained....

Calaman, it's reassuring to know AussiePonics are honouring the warranty. Let's see if they manage to fuck even that simple task up! Seriosuly though, I hope they come through with the goods for ya.

 

Would be interested in your thoughts on the cheapo Chinese lights if you end up going for them.

I warned u about growlush they are fucking shit! I know a guy that recently grabbed a growlush vertical lamp holder and he thought its just a lamp holder should be no drama right? Wrong! He noticed a burning smell and the lamp flickering and the lamp holder was blistering hot to the touch after being on less than a minute, he initially thought it was the lamp so he changed the lamp and the same thing happened, so he got a new lamp holder (not growlush) and no probs!

Atleast thats a TRUE digital and can run both HPS and MH unlike the growlush so called "digital" ballast! And its got a built-in axial fans for cooling and thermo overload protection sleep mode safety function.

 

Only $99 thats a bargin!

! Thats wot im thinking Sol! I'm guna email em tomorrow and see whats the chop as I think its been a week now.

I ordered and paid for 2 100W dimming models today. I'll let you know, 7 days they reckon.

While looking thru Alibaba and DIYtrade Sol, Im 99% positive Ive identified the manufacturer for the Growlush ballasts. They look exactly the same as the one i have here, the specs are the same etc. Growlush say they make em here but wot do you reckon? I reckon they just put the stickers on em. Anyway while looking thru all this I think Ive found a superior product to the growlush ones for less money.

Im hella keen!! Cant wait to see how it goes... If they do work fine Im going to replace all my 600s with the 1000W dimmers and run em at 60% for veg then turn em up for flower. It'll save heaps on equipment, Ive got so much crap about! Hella keen.......

Hi there Calaman, really like the sound of those Dimmable units , especially at that price . recently checked out same style made in the US.

Hell they want nearly 500 US You source those suckers at Ali baba ?? Some stuff from China has a really bad wrap, but then there are heaps of great Manafacturers. Be interesting to see how yours turn out ,.

SHIT SHIT SHIT!!! I just recieved a message fromAussieponics saying... we have JUST (I sent it tuesady last week for Bobs sake!) recieved the ballst, we will test it to see if it is "REALLY" faulty. Fuck man, soon as I saw that my blood began to boil!! I am so fucking pissed now! They are implying that I have somehow fiddled with a sealed ballast unit! Man I am so pissed off!!! The fucking thing is sealed! IF they fuck me around, I swear, I'm going to. Caught myself there.... just in time too..... MAN I AM SO ANGRY
