digital ballast?

Recommended Posts

I have had more than one of their magnetic ballast fail within the first 12 months of use! Had brand new grow-lush lamps that didnt work which had be returned (pain in the arse), this is reason why I wouldnt buy anything grow-lush. Bloke at the hydroshop has stopped stocking thier products due to all sorts of dramas, ballast catching on fire or not working at all (magnetic) 2-3 lamps per box not working the list goes on. Havent heard much about their digitals because there still new on the market but its only a matter of time IMO.

Lumatek ballast have been used all around the world and have been proven, no RF interference (in my experience) its also got the lumen booster switch which adds an extra 10% lumens and so forth and so forth.

As I said before u get what u pay for.

Good to know Yields, thanks for the background info. and you're absolutely right....you get what you pay for. If I get a year or so out of a a digital ballast that cost $250 I'll be happy with that. That said, ballasts catching on fire is a real concern. The Lumatek ballasts have a strong reputation and if I have any issues with the Growlush I'll be looking to them for the next purchase.

As you said, as long as you get 12months. Do they have a 12month warranty?

great article yeilds... :pimp:

Yeah, the Growlush ballasts come with a 12 month warranty. That said...if it's not worth the paper it's printed on....well, y'know.

Personally, for me, at the time of building out an entire brand new setup the price saving was worth the gamble.

well growlush bulbs are the cheapest arent they...

Wot sort of interference? like TV static, mobile fone or wot? Having to insulate leads with foil sounds like someones tryin to cut costs

Cut costs you say , If you call court costs "costs" yes ... But I think your refering to running costs ,You are not right if thats what you mean ... The foil wrapped around the lead is simulating a shielded lead If you know what a shielded lead looks like you'll know what I mean ... Have you ever cut into an old CB cable or a TV coaxial cable and seen the mesh or tin foil ? thats shielding ...

The interference is in the 2meter band width which is were our TV stations transmit ...

My friend has emailed the munufactures of Lumatek but they have not replied to him at all YET ...

Dont get me wrong I also agree that Digi Ballasts are the ducks guts of ballasts and so does my friend ,

Yes they cycle 28000 times per second and yes your lights last and work better than Magnetic ballats ...

As soon as my friend gets a reply from Lumatek I will post it here ... Thanx and Cheers

For the price, I doubt the Growlush cables are shielded. That said however, my grow is in my attic space where my coaxial TV cable runs and I'm seeing no interference.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Lumatek gear is the best available on the Australian market but in my opinion they're cost prohibitive for the start-up hobby grower (like me).

I had a growlush digital 400 ballast I bought off a guy and it melted soon after. never buy their shit again. their bulbs are crap too.

As for aussieponics they're cheap but they ARE GROWLUSH and they don't wrap their shipments so everyone is your street sees what you are getting delivered. Real pain in the arse.

May as well stand on the street with a loudspeaker "I've just had growlush hydroponic equipment delivered"

pricks!

i'm using growlush cuz it was cheap to buy, and it's definitely doing the job, but where is there a comparison chart? like my growlush 400W HPS claims to give an output of 65k lumens! and when i was looking at the SON T's and stuff they were more expensive with fewer lumens Edited by bullseye
