Can I save these really stretched ladies?

Recommended Posts

HI guys! I'm new here and looking for a little advice.

I just built this 1st grow box. this was intended to be my Veg/Mother box. A friend of mine hooked me up with a meeting with another guy who grows and he invited me over to see what he does and his op.

When I was meeting with him he had about 35 plants 1 week into flowering all under a 1000w HPS hanging about 4ft from his plants. All of them were really stretched. He was using some generic blooming nutes and re-used soil from his last batch. He ended up giving me 6 plants that showed no sex.

I took them home and put them in my box with a MH about 2ft above them and kept them on the 12/12 light cycle. I figured this could be a good learning medium until I get my HPS and get m Flowering box completed. Recently, after some other adive I lowered the light and pushed the plants closer together. I also added a 200w CFL on top of my already existing 400w MH.

This is how they looked when I got them.

Since the 6 days I've had them they have all showed sex and are all females. They were rootbound and had a bad PH problem where the bottom leaves were yellowing and falling off. I transplanted them into 8in pots with Fox Farm Ocean forest and bought the Fox Farm Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom. However, there is a few problems.

This is them now.

The guy I got them from has been doing this for a few years and is about 50 yrs old or so. I realized after doing alot of research he doesn't have a great operation but I appreciate his views, teachings and plants anyway. He told me on his operation he gets about a Oz. per plant. Since being in week 2 of flowering I notcied 1" buds on the colas already and alot of popcorn buds on most, a few have 5 or 6 side colas. Now for the questions...

Is this really possiblefor him to reap an ounce per plant if they stayed in his set-up? As far as I can tell the plants were stretched beond belief.

Is my program better than what was being used by my friend?

I am in week 2 of flowering now is there any salvage for these plants? Can expect a decent yeild if I nurse these babies until they are ready?

Any advice on how to better take care of these ones?

if they were my plants i'd guess and say around 7grams per plant they could be donkey dick phenos (tall skinny plants) grown mainly just for a single cola i would say flower them out and go order your self some known seeds and start fresh move the light lower to the plants and move the plants in more closer what size light are u using?

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I have a 400w MH and I just added a 200w CFL yesterday. I lowered the light yesterday to about 16" above the canopy and bunched them closer together. It's funny though I seem to be having a PH problem still. I transplanted into Fox Farm Ocean soil two days ago and I have one of those All-in-one moisture/PH/light meters plus a chemical PH test kit and i still seems to be at 7.5 to 7.8 PH. I don't know why. My water alone is at 6.5. I just don't get it, I just did a mild flush about 10mins ago I hope this helps.

what can you expect from your grow room

depends pon your plant management practices

some growers love lotsa small plants with big budz

like your friend

he is happy with

about 1000g from 1000wt

or

1g per watt

thats irey

yes soundz like he could be using sog management practices

seen

all roads lead to the same bountifull yeild

seen

it is just personal prefferance as to which way you wanna grow

whcih methord suites you best

is something to ponder

and then research
