SA Police find huge cannabis crop inside greenhouses at Virginia

POLICE said a huge cannabis crop found at Virginia had a possible street value of $60 million.

 

Detectives and STAR Group officers swooped on the O'Loughlin Rd market garden this morning where they found about 4000 cannabis plants in five glasshouses.

 

The plants ranged in size from about 30cm to two metres in height and all were in healthy condition and were being fed by an elaborate watering system.

 

Superintendent Linda Fellows from the Drug Investigation Branch said, "it has been some time since we have had a crop of this size".

They certainly don't mess around. I have to take my hat off to whoever organised this crop. The cops reckon the plants were there for at least 10 weeks, and the suburb of Virginia is by no standards a rural area. I'm surprised they got away with it that long

god damn. would of been nice if that crop had made it through harvest, would of bought the prices right down hehe

Those greenhouses out that way were often filled with plants 15-20 years ago, gotta wonder if we may start seeing more of this as they crack down on the hydroponics industry in SA.

Good point bloodshot. The less pot around the more expensive it gets the more incentive to grow it.

Glass greenhouses, would never even try that . Would be so easy to spot from the air.... or the ground for that matter.
