Cannabis syndicate smashed by $1m raids

FOUR men believed to be high ranking members of a Sydney cannabis syndicate have been arrested in raids across the city.

 

Police also seized drugs with an estimated street value of $1 million.

 

On Wednesday night police from Strike Force Morvan raided houses in Bexley, Woodbine and Marrickville.

 

Police arrested the four men in Wolseley St, Bexley, after finding an what they called an "elaborate hydroponic set-up", which included a tunnel in and out of the house.

 

The three raids netted 347 hydroponically enhanced plants, an estimated 30 kilograms of cannabis leaf, and an amount of cash.

 

The majority of the haul, estimated to be worth more than $1 million, came from the Bexley set-up, a police spokesman said.

 

Police say the four men, aged between 45 and 52, will be charged with cannabis cultivation and supply.

 

They will allege all four were high ranking members of a cannabis syndicate.

 

The men have been refused bail to appear at Kogarah Local Court later on Thursday.

 

Strike Force Morvan was set up in June last year, after more than 2000 plants worth more than $11 million, and sophisticated hydroponic set-ups, were seized in raids in Blair Athol and nearby Bradbury in south-western Sydney.

Hydroponically enhanced what rubbish will they think of next? best buds I ever smoked were outdoor, best hydro doesnt even come close in strength
