Computer power supply for 400hps

Recommended Posts

im starting my first indoor hydro kit, and trying to built it on a budget, ive got a Hydroponics SON-T 400W HPS Grow light. and i was wondering if you can use a 400w power supply from a computer!

ill be using it anyway, because im putting a couple of 120mm computer fans with pretty blue LEDS.

the dimentions of the "room" is 1100 wide, 400 deep and 1750 high,

would a 400w light be sufficiant, and would that light be good for veg and flower??

also can you make your own reflector out of a car sunvisor, like the reflective ones that dissapate heat..

any help would be great!!!

no no no dont risk it , you can get brand new for under $100AU nowdays

never mess with power if you dont know what your doing please

you would be best of putting 1 600watts in the space you have you could do it with 1or2 400watt but you will much better buds from 600watt ,.

if your reflector has a nice and flat surface you could use it , i use ply board cut to size and paint with flat white paint , dont use tin foil its no good flat white is the best if your on a buget

oh ok champ thats fair enough! i still need to use the power supply to fun the computer fans anyway, so all is good,

now what i need to know is.. the ballast for a 400 hps light needs to be specific for the globe yes?

and when you buy one, does it come with the connection to screw the bulb into. im yet to see a kit with a hps,

i need to figure this out within the week cuz ebay stuff is coming, and if i need to get a specific ballast, theres one on ebay to suit my 400hps.

also im only using one light, just cuz i cant use too much power, and the room is painted in flat white, so it will be quite reflective,

also, if i put a couple of red blue "grow" LED panels, and the 400hps, would they make any difference at all

or just look pretty, cuz they do look pretty effin cool..

also whats the best light on and of cycle for growing from clones, i want to have a turnover of around 3-4 months, if not quicker,

so just wanting to know what the best cycle is..

stay stoned people

boof

Hi evilboof13,

You've got all the light you need if you have a 400w HPS (High Pressure Sodium). do the right thing and get the 400w blast to match.

LED panels do look nice :D. So just do ya research on LED panels use by others ands then decide.

You won't believe how cheap electricity is running a 400w & growing for yourself. .............

clone flower. clone flower. clone flower, while keeping a m other plant healthy to supply you with clones.

All the best - let us know what your up to.

i give my clones 18on 6of and thay take about 2 weeks before there ready togo into bud room . i dont give any veg time (apart from rooting time) and have been getting great results , if you can strech your money to get a digital ballast 400 or 600 you would be much better of than getting a cheap old style 400 watt , with only a few dollars more on power to pay ( for 600watt) (cheaper for 400 watt) the benifts will way out way any extra cost . 400watt will grow nice bud but once you see what the 600watt can do you will be converted .

PS also i harvest every 3 mths there abuts big fat buds check out my youtube hashbean420
