Music for your plants

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Do any people here think music is really beneficial to the plants? What kinds? I was thinking ... perhaps ... anything from chillout trance, to lounge, right up to some soft classical.

Wouldn't play metal or anything fast like that, I think that'd make the plants wilt :P

Has anyone got any solid experiences playing music for their crop?

hey bubba,

I have read crap that says plants can grow better if certain music is played to it. The same music that is meant to make little kids genuis', which is music with 60 beats per minute, I think its baroque music or something like that. Some poofy classical crap. But they say any music with 60 beats per minute will do the trick, so maybe some old industrial ala The Swans. Actually I think the swans would be essential. There is something about 60 beats per minute, maybe it goes in the same pattern as our circadian rythms or maybe our hearts. I dunno. But that tempo can do funny things, it has long been used for brainwashing and sending subliminal messages, I guess 'trance' would work if it is the same as old 80's industrial in the fact it puts you in a trance, I hate techno crap so I dont even know what trance is.

On my first few crops I had a radio running non-stop, to drown out the fans. It did nothing of course.

Maybe different strains will have different tastes in music?? I reckon alot of sativas would like the metal music, If only buds could talk.

DIFFERENT STRAINS FAVOURITE MUSIC

I think hash plant would listen to metal.

AK 47 looks to me to be a jazz fan

Blueberry likes a bit hillbilly

Jack herer is definately into opera, 3 tenors stuff

Northern lights could like a bit of surf/sk8 punk

Durban Poisin is into anything with a lot of bongo drums and chanting

that black domina - ooh something exotic, like Madame Butterfly

Stonehenge - that's gotta be into Gaelic dittys or the corrs

Western winds looks like it loves the soundtrack from any 40's or 50's musical

KC33 goes "aaah" - like it would listen to the vines

White widow looks a bit trapped in the 70's - I think it like the sound of

Stevie Nicks' voice.

Super Skunk only listens to fat hip hop

and Oasis, I'm not even gonna talk about.

@ wc.....60bpm activates the alpha waves in your brain, as a student (few years ago now), we were encouraged to listen to classical music or some nice trance beats while studying to help us absorb info and apparently once the alpha waves acheive a certain level, the brain acheives a state very like those who practice transedental meditation.....sometimes worked for me and might help plants too

oh and by the way, since when does classical music have homosexual tendencies....... :P

go for it i say bubba, you never know what it could do and it won't hurt to try...

yes possibly, but you must remember that plants, with very few exceptions, don't have brains... :P

I tend to think anyone that tries music with their plants is a super fanatical grower that does everything possible to optimise their grow, so they are going to see good results regardless.

Hahahah wassily that is hilarious man :P good stuff.

To the others .. thanks for the help, I'll trial 60bpm when I get my grow on the road. I'll just pitch alter my mp3s and play them at 60, should be interesting to see if anything happens at all.
