Max Brooks...World War Z...anyone read it?

I highly reccommend it :peace: ...do you ever get sick of zombie/living dead movies that have unrealistic things

happening just to forward the plot and then not following through on the idea?

Why are the zombies always destroyed or contained? What if the infection got out into the general public?

This book is the answer.....told as eyewitness accounts of a worldwide outbreak of zombie disease..

how it spread through the population of the worlds countries...failures and successes in the war...

social and political ramifications of this happening...

...America...france...japan...nth and sth korea...russia...latin america...china....

...rich and poor...

...before,during and after...

...quislings (acting like zombies)

and LaMOE's (Last Man On Earth Syndrome)...

...the canine squads...

...cleanup teams...

This book is well thought out well written and a damn good read.

I also hear-tell that it is being made into a movie...

peace out

this book seems to be based on a few movies already... the only difference is that the infection is not contained to one nation

I assure you that once you read the book you will realise that it isn't. Its told in past tense, a reporter interviewing ppl who went through it

and their stories and views tell the story well. well thought out..good progression on how it might effect the world...different

nations and people of different mindsets acting different ways :peace: >:( :/  :disguise:  :/  ....The description of the billionaire playboy who sets up a survival compound,

invites the who's who of the hollywood glitterati...including someone suspiciously like pari$ Hilton...the the fucker broardcasts it on the web!..live, like big brother...every room and outside wired....and then it gets overrun....by the ppl who had been it on the net! hehehe...and then by the undead following them!!!

North Korea...what do you think they would do?...it's interesting... :/

Also wrote the zombie survival guide...fun read....but have a looksee at it first before shelling out $30 for a paperback.

peace out

Good point shroomyshroom...worse still is when a good book is made into a shit movie and stops

ppl from reading a really good book.

On my list of these is

The Postman by David Brin...The film was so Costnerized that it bore little resemblance to the very good book

that inspired it...

And one series I hope is NEVER made into a film is

Stephen Donaldsons GAP series

A brilliant read...but translation to film would wreck it....(If you decide to read these..get them all first...waiting to get the next one

....well, it's kinda like waiting for a seedling to grow when ya wanna smoke NOW)...hehehe

peace out

World War Z is a much better book and novel than it has any right to be given the premise. In fact, Brooks's world building and story-telling ability makes the novel an easy one to become immersed into and, while his characters may be a little flat, this is a novel more of ideas than about characterization. World War Z is an enjoyable novel the has an uncanny ability to draw the reader into the near future apocalyptic world Brooks has invented.

Yeah, I did read your sig - but if you're going to quote others, it's polite to give a citation so we KNOW you're quoting. The diction and register of your post flagged that this was a professional review. In this case, you're directly quoting the last paragraph of Stephen Silver's review: http://www.sfsite.com/12a/ww237.htm
