hypergrow phototron?

Does anyone have experience with a NZ made device called Hypergrow?

Its basically a phototron as far as I can tell..it has 4x34w curvalume fluoro's (big U-shaped ones)

and either a philips sl 18 prismatic (veg) or sylvania electronic lynx bulb (flower) -both fluoro's-eddison screw.

Consists of a base with wheels, a top with light fittings and ballast, a heat pad, a raised tray within a tray (ie:pot with res)

and all four sides are white painted sheet metal that slides down aluminium angle brackets (This gives it stability-it's a basic frame otherwise)

I've used it a few years and need some replacement parts--found some places that sell them too-- just wondering if anyone else has used this (type)

device before? I find it ideal as a clone or mother chamber--it even looks like it could be built with a minimum of effort from store bought materials...

they are very expensive for replacement bulbs

in oz i think they came from grow australia

very simple method of growing

i mainly used it for vege

u will get a harvest from it

Hiya bil....funny you should say that...this is exactly what I DID start growing with!...and it is a good mother chamber..I got mine for free, 4th hand or so..gotta replace the ballasts and tubes now though...When I started I tried cherry tomatoes...had 2mtr+ of vine outside the thing, trailing around the room....lotsa tiny toms all over the place..have found a place that sells new improved tubes and ballasts...Think they're $5.95 a tube...reasonable enough for me...still gotta check the ballasts though...

Also found some US sites that range from $10-25 ea.

This is a sweet little unit to learn the ropes with...very basic and simple...

yeah simple grow in sydney sold them back in the early to mid 90's they were only ever good for mother plants i see them being sold on ebay every now and again they were $300 new back than than grow australia took over with there version with 4 sides insted of the original phototron with 3 sides

Yep gazza...the 4 sided one is what I got...got the origional booklet that came with it too...

 

...Got plans to stablise it with a base and top,

new tubes and ballasts..when I do I might post a few before/during/after pics..

 

..for what it is it IS a good mother chamber!

...and with some TLC and additions, will be again
