computer UPS?..can it be used?

Recommended Posts

i worked for a small ISP we had maybe 20 servers and 1 big ass UPS unit attached to like 20 rechargable car batteries and that was only to keep basic funtions running for up to 6 hours UPS units are just not designed to constanatly run they are basically for saving your work you want safety get a small generator that should hold you through a black out.

The type of UPS needed would cost you $4000+ easily

Generator $600 http://www.transquip.com.au/product.aspx?ID=5490

Another thing to watch with a UPS is the actual voltage being put out by the unit when mains power fails. I have one here I got for nix and when the mains cuts out the voltage drops to ~180V. Depending on what it's running that may cause some problems.

It could be a fucked UPS but I only got it for nix because the battery was knackered.
