first indoor grow aeroponics

heh,heh :D yup, ive def given these plants a bit of a floggin' recently. the droop you pointed out chato is the result of heat stress, i think. i also cut off two burnt tips. damage was minimal. the only other damage was about a dozen leaves that have light radiant heat burn that caused them to go yellow but not die. i removed the 600 and put the 400 back in. the 600 is awesome no doubt, but the radiant heat it generates just fries the tips. the 400 ive found allows me to get the tips as close to the light as possible without burning em. i wanna grow weed not bbq buds. :D i have noticed that the 600 penetrated the canopy much better, its almost dark at the base of the plants. but the 400 is a great light and im sure it will give me an end result not far off the 600. as for my height woes, i have kinked a couple of branches, used gills twisting tek for a couple but found it too scary. the rest of the tall tips have been bent right down vertically and tied to there own stems. its worked well and i have a fairly even canopy. its the start of week 3 flower and i think the stretch is finally starting to come to an end. vert growth continues but has slowed noticably. the big bitch is finally starting to bud up. nute change tonight, also begin first additive in the aero system, solidas potash. also the droop may have been caused by poor ventilation which i have rectified with a hastily constructed passive intake to assist the 100mm intake fan. we have had a dramatic change of weather down south. only 15c. its been a great help. temps in the drobe during lights off are 21.7 at canopy, 20.8 ambient. lights on temps 25.5 canopy, 21.8 ambient. relative humidity doesnt change much. stays around 50-65%. temps at the canopy with the 600 were up around 29-30c. nute strength has steadily been raised to 24, but i think this may be a bit much. i noticed some leaves with the "claw" appearence, so i will drop the nutes back to 22-23, they seem to enjoy this the most. ive noticed with aero that any change in the nutes or ph shows up extremely quick on the plants. i used to be adjusting ph everyday, but now it seems to be really stable and i have not had to adjust in 7 days. it sits around 5.5-6.0. im happy about that coz i hate ph up-down :D . ive been keeping the base of my plants really clean. there is no foliage at all down there. took off all those shitty little branches that will produce "popcorn buds". i hope this is the correct thing to do. the yellow fungus on the base of my big bitches stem that i spoke of a couple of weeks ago was quickly taken care of with 2 applications of microbial, which i find to be a great product. i beleive it also helps to keep he ph steady. heres some pics from lights off today. i know my camera skills have gone dowhill recently. ^_^ post-25744-1236242431_thumb.jpg

i think mould is going to be your enemy this grow SODA and u will find a decent amount of loss without the 600 light there awesome but hey if ya cant use it the 400 will do u can buy a product u add it to the res and it maintains the PH of your res to 6.0 for 7-10 days than u just add more or do a nute change and add the right amount again

Yea i thought the droop was pretty full on bro i didn;t wanna jinx ya by saying heat. The maths says a 600 is 50% better than a 400, in reality i reckon it;s more than that but your spot on you want bud not crispy fried stuff.

Gotta disagree with Gaz on the ph product, i've heard about this product and for awhile i was keen on trying it. PH Precise is one of the brands and it comes in a range of ph values, 5.5, 5.8, 6.0 an i think maybe more. PH swings are a normal factor of growing an happen for a reason, masking them with a product will only hide from you what is really happening with your plants i think. I haven't tried em though so i'm only speculating but once ya got ya system dialled in an your nutrient and additives combo worked out you won't get ph swings unless something is really wrong. PH like PPM is only a guide, your plants tell ya what's up an once your in a routine you won;t need to check either very much.

Trimming the lower stuff was necessary esp since you;ve dropped back to the 400, looks good mate. PPM can run higher in aero cuz of such quick processing and uptake of nutes, musha is good example ^_^. All in all they look good mate an you should bring it home well.

Disagreed with Gaz bout the ph stuff but he has good point about mould with your space being so crowded so keep an eye on humidity an keep the air moving in there.

Grow hard mate :D

peace

thanks for swingin' by fellas. :D yeah its a shame about the 600, but there is always next time. i got shit in mind.... also it aint over yet! when this stretch stops i will re-assess the situation. there could be hope for the mighty 600 yet. thanks for the reccomendation about the ph product gaz. at the moment the ph has been super stable and just right. i havent had to adjust in a week. i still check it daily although i dont need to. ive sure had good practice at tweaking it, thats for sure. ^_^ but i will def keep that in mind gaz. yeah chato, musha did run 28cf no worries. im on 24, i will slowly increase up to 26 over the next 2 weeks. i am keeping an eye out for mould and will be straight onto it if it appears. i run a pretty tight ship and trim any dead or dying leaves and foliage. but i def will be monitoring the grow more closely now. well i better go and do this nute change. :D

now that im on a smoko during this flush and nute change. whats the go with all the shade leaves at the top of the plant?

can i trim some that block growing tips from the light? or just leave em alone? i know i can move them around and pull them in behind branches and stuff, but theres so fucken many.

aye skate nazi, wots doin bro? glad you popped in mate. welcome to ozstoners. :D and welcome to my GR. the girls are looking mad. the big indy bitch has all but eaten the 400 and has hundreds of growing tips. while the 600 was toastin' my buds, now there are tips within 2-3 inches all round the globe and they seem to be lovin' it. just like in some of mushas pics where the plant consumed the light. i just dont get the penetration thru the canopy like i did with the 600 which is a shame.

but thats the only prob really, that and height. there all some tall tips, some right up in the reflector and above. i just tie em' down as need be. i hope this doesnt effect the formation of the growing bud. does anyone know if its no good in bloom? if so please let me know thanks.

the satty is more devoloped i think and is starting to frost up on the leaves. its just one main cola really. looks nice, but i cant pick any scent yet. she is runnin' on 22cf on the 1 part nutes which seem to be workin a treat. :D

and the big indy is runnin on 24cf which is right on the cusp i think, maybe still a bit high. ph has been stable 5.5-6. water temps 21c, and RH is 60-65% lites off. room temps are around 23-25c lites on.
