No worries mate i really enjoy reading aero grows an i esp dig peeps who take the aero plunge first go at hydro or growing. On that note if you got time check out Mushaman's first aero grow, the topic is pinned so is at the top of the grow diaries section. Really long diary but good read an he's a top bloke.

 

The bit of water is not a real drama if your just refreshing nutes, if you wanna do a proper flush sorta have to run water thru 2 or 3 times so that the only water left is "clean".

 

The grey on the leaves is not real cool but and that can because of a number of things, badly mixed nutes, radical ph change when changing nutes or too much ph up an down for starters . I know you've had ph problems are they sorted now? How much does it swing per day/feed?

 

The plants look a little choked of air too, what's ya flow like? The more pics the better bro it and it won;t hurt taking pics of em at nite i do it all the time.

i will def check out mushamans aerogrow, i am super keen on aero and love the challenge although at times it can be frustrating. thanks for setting me straight bout the flushing, i see what you mean by leaving "clean"water up top. haha yeah chato, ive pretty much got the ph situation under control now. i adjust it daily as it steadily climbs up past 6. i have a question that has confused me for a while. some people tell me to only add water to the res to top up and no nutes. this is what i did during veg before i got a cf truncheon and i had no probs, though i didnt know my cf. now ive got it i see that the nutrient strength increases as the plants drink. then i add make up water and of course my cf drops. if i always top up with make up water with no nutes how will i keep my cf at a set number? i mean the truncheon cant lie if it says 1.8 it is. yet i get told im in danger of toxic salt buildup? can you shed some light on this for me please mate? ventilation was very good at the start of the grow, now the plants are much larger i may need a bigger intake fan. currently there is a 100mm intake and 150mm inline exhaust that pulls the little intake fan round a bit faster than its sposed to spin. i do have another 150mm the same, could use that. also i notice since i put flyscreen over the inlet, a shitload of dust and fluff gathers on it that i suck off with the vac every few days. that fluff actually affects flow ive noticed. fuck knows where it comes from too, coz i got no carpet! chato, i was told that plants shouldnt get a crack of light during their nite period. is this also bullshit. im fuckin sick of shit talkers. mate ive got heaps of pics, just shits me that i can only put one per post. yeah gazza, will attack that dying lower growth. i gotta find out why its dying off

Just got back from the pub

 

Shouldn;t really adjust your ph daily an if your ppm is climbing before you add water that means your plants are being overfed, it should be dropping. As it drops topping it up with ph adjusted water for a few days will allow it really chew into the nutes. Toxic salt build up i dunno what they mean really, well i do but too wasted to even get into it cuz it;s not an issue you;ve got to deal with imo.

 

You do need bigger ventilation i reckon but i;m not real good on specifics in that regard as i always just buy the biggest an dont have to really worry bout stealth. The dust buildup is only a good thing cuz it;s shit your keeping outta the grow room but keep the screen clean esp until you get bigger fans cuz you need more air.

 

Light at night causing hermies etc is way way overstated, taking pics at nite with a flash is like a lightning storm not to mention the light cast on a full moon. Prolonged exposure to light, like a crack of light drilling the plant for a long time during the nite cycle will definitely cause probs but every now an then turning light on for 15mis or so during dark time wont hurt at all. I've never had hermies indoors an i fuck with em all the time.

ay chato ur a gun mate. :thumbsup. only a true gentleman would take the time to read and reply to my post at 5 in the morning, and after just gettin back from the pub. outstanding! thanks for clearing those few questions i had up bro. got a 150mm fan, install on w/end. i will take ur advice and back off on the nutes. yeah, always wondered about the lite from a full moon. now i know i will take more pics at nite. and work on adding more than i pic per post. been reading mushamans aero grow dairy since i got home from work. great read as you said mate, ive been glued to it for hours. oh yeah, the big girl is gradually startin to stand up again, although she still doesnt look as good as she did. i reckon the extra lite cycle helped alot. i took off the ties i used to hold her up, and just a few of her outside branches are still yet to straighten rite back up yet. quick pic of ailment on one of the uppermost growing tips. yeah you would think so nfw3, but i think males mature before females. also with the change of lite cycle they will all begin to flower regardless of there size and age. please someone correct me if im wrong. another pic of yellowing leaves on the big girl.

Hehe no worries mate was only 2am here an i was in chat till 4 or 5am

 

Dunno bout the extra light cycle i prolly wouldn't of done that but no biggie your only early into flower. Hopefully it will continue to straighten up for ya.

 

Those pics look like light burn, how far down the plant do is it go though? Some of the colouring in the middle of the leaves is a little sus too. Hopefully will see some improvement with more airflow.

time for an update. those yellow leaves are all at the top of the plant, and theres a few of em' midway down. it doesnt seem to be gettin' any worse and the male isnt showing any similiar symptoms, just a mild case of tip burn. i wont add any extra lite cycles again. while on the subject, will it hurt if i cut short my next lite cycle to only 6 hours? this is so i can dial my timer back in to lites on at night and off during the day like it was before my fuck up the other day when i took em' out of the drobe. just cant run the lite in the day here. as ya can see they are startin to stand up again, still dont look as good though. the male is tucked into the back left corner and is less than half the man he used to be. he looks fine. the perlite pot girl is front left and has had no dramas at all. it is on a different nutrient regime. a one part with a vb1 yeild/bloom enhancer called vitamax.
