first indoor grow aeroponics

i thought i might as well just leave this thread as my temp grow dairy while i set it up. any advice, tips and suggestions are what im postin for. ^_^ so im in week four of veg, and im just blown away at the speed of growth. i knew indoor plants grew fast but faaark. :peace: here lies my current dilemma. as you can see one plant is much more developed than the other. the larger plant is one week older than the smaller one coz it was an emergency replacement for the origanal that died. so its 20 inches tall and the smaller one is 10 inches. ive fimmed the big one already and only pruned dead or dying foliage from the base of the plant. it hasnt slowed vertical growth though. i know LST is prob the solution, but wont it encroach on the smaller plants space too much if i tie the branches down? i have three and a half feet of vert space left. wish i had of known about scrog earlier. whats the best option to limit vert growth to allow jnr to catch up? thanks heaps. lol this is the state of play. post-25744-1233819405_thumb.jpg

Nice work mate plants are looking good. I love aeroponics it;s the fastest growing method by a mile imo. Any chance of some pics of the misters your using and maybe some root porn :peace:

As for your dilema tisn;t a real lot you can do except tie it down and tip, it won;t hurt it at all. Some high stress training is needed.

Also what ppm an ph you running? Best of luck.

wots doin chato, thanks for the advice. ^_^ gonna tie this bitch (hopes!) down tonight. whats the best way? cotton and paperclips? do i use the steel clips or plastic? yeah mate i love aeroponics, this whole thing has really turned into a full on hobby for me. keeps me outta trouble and its betta than the boob. i am running at 1400 ppm and keep my ph fairly steady at 5.8. got no pics of the inside of the root chamber as yet, but sched nute change on sat so i will take some and put em up. same as with the sprinklers i use. its kinda awkward to get inside the root chamber now. its another lesson learnt for the next aeroponic build. easier access! the roots are healthy and white though....i know coz they have started to grow down out of the chamber drain into the res. the sprinklers are low pressure and i they are not are fine mist as such, more like mini sprinks. as you prob already know, the size of the droplet landing on the surface of the roots has no effect on performance or yeild. high pressure sprayers are also unreliable and fail much to often. hope this answers some of your questions mate. more pics to come! :peace:

Can use whatever is on hand mate, i often use coathanger wire but really anything will do to tie em down.

Try putting a stocking over your drain but it can impede flow, cuz you cant get into root chamber you can put it on the return line, i also put em over the water pump to act as a filter.

I have to say i disagree a bit about the size of the water droplets. There is quite a lot information about it and even a dedicated True Aero Growers thread on another site which has strict "rules" for what they regard to be true aeroponic growing, one of those stipulations is that the droplet size must be within a certain micron range. Can't remember the numbers off the top of my head but they're pretty small. The thing i've found wih a finer spray is the very fine hairy roots it produces so i tend to agree with them on that principle. But having said all of that one of my early aero grows where i had no misters I simply sprayed two fine jets of water on the sides of the tub an the splashback was my mist :peace:. Roots were lovely an white.

Looking forward to more pics mate an all the best tying em down ^_^

grouse, thanks for that chato. clever idea with the stockings also ^_^ , definitely gonna put one round the pump, blocked sprinks would be a bitch. yeah sorry mate, i should have said that that was not my personal opinion, hydrocentre up north reckon they did a study and tested the theory. i read it in the Q and A of their site. personally i cant have an opinion coz im new to hydro and aero growing. my drops are not big, but nowhere near a mist. something to try in the next aero grow? :peace: i will find out how many microns they are. thanks for the heads up on the cotton. i was just about to use it. have to get some thin wire tomorrow. all i got is coathangers. lol also, have you got a link to that site please mate? love reading about aero. ^_^

No problem at all mate i enjoy reading about aeroponics and dwc as well and not many peeps in Oz do aero cuz of the heat elements. aero link

Actually heard about dynaponics recently which apparently uses an airpump to pump the water as opposed to a traditional water pump... not sure how it works an is very little info online about it but sounds cool as hell.
