Chopper Raids in Nimbin

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Just a heads up (or down depending on ya circumstances) to anyone in the Nimbin/NSW FNC area.

The chopper arrived yesterday (mon 2/2), apparantly they did Moondani just south of town, they also did around Tuntable, Avalon at Stoney Chute, and the Area between Lillyfield community heading East to Blue Knob, including Lofts Pinnacle Rd on the border of the Tweed and Kyogle shires.

This morning (Tues 3/2) they did finished up at Lillian Rock and appear to be heading toward Barkers Vale as of now(the time of typing.) Flying Grid patterns.

I'd say they will spend the rest of the day around barkers Vale and probably head elsewhere, like the Channon/Terania Valley, Billen/Rock Valley/Jiggi Both sides of the Nightcap Range (Doon Doon area, through Main Arm round to Mullum) and the rest of the Tweed and further WEst and North of Kyogle over the rest of the week. Can't say for sure where or what order, but that seems to be the best guess of myself and a few other locals in town yesterday. They often follow pre planned route based on aerial photos and tip offs.

So if you are in those areas keep your eyes and ears open and let your neighbours friends and family know.

They have been avoiding the rain, as usual, and there's a bit about, so hopefully this cyclone up north will get some momentum and cover us in low cloud for the rest of the week.

Cheers

joe

I can confirm this. I was returning from Nimbin using the Tomewin Rd about a week ago and noticed the chopper (with some device hanging under it) doing the rounds around the Caldera on the QLD/NSW border east of the Tomewin Rd. It was definitely searching.

Outdoor growers should be EXTRA vigilant at the moment.

Strange time to go looking for an outdoor grow but?

Six arrests in a $3.3m crackdown

POLICE seized more than 1600 cannabis plants with a potential street value of almost $3.3 million in drug raids across the Northern Rivers this week.

Over a four-day period from Monday, State Crime Command in conjunction with Richmond Local Area Command police searched 31 target areas in Tabulam, Drake, Nimbin, Duck Creek, Pretty Gully, Tooloom, Yabra, Urbenville, Georgica and Findon Creek.

Police charged six people with the offence of cultivating.

Another alleged offender was identified, but has yet to be charged.

The 1646 plants seized ranged in height from one to four metres, police said.

“This command will continue to focus efforts on illegal drugs and people involved with illegal drugs,” Richmond LAC crime manager Detective Inspector Steve Clarke said.

“These results send out a stern warning that police will continue to target them,” he said.

Detective Inspector Clarke said the majority of the drugs seized were destroyed by burning on Thursday morning at the Casino police station.

Police used a helicopter for aerial identification of cannabis plantations throughout the week.

The total estimated street value of the plants taken away was $3.292 million.

More raids were conducted yesterday around The Channon.

Results of those operations were not known last night, but Detective Inspector Clarke said any drugs found by police would be examined and destroyed.

He also warned cultivators cannabis raids in this area would not necessarily be annual events as was sometimes assumed.

“Operations of this nature are generally annual,” he said. But, given the scale of cannabis cultivation in the Northern Rivers, they would be more sporadic.

the majority of the drugs seized were destroyed by burning on Thursday morning at the Casino police station.

And the rest went to...

Trying to picture thursday, when 'the majority' of 1646 wet plants at an average height around 2m, were burnt at the casino cop shop...

Sounds pretty difficult, wasteful and insane in the heat of this season, with total fire bans and wild fires raging in vic and nsw... a valid use of resources?? :bongon:

1646 marijuana plants divided into 3.292 million dollars equates to $2022.60, per plant, what fuckin planet are these tossers living on, it seems lately that around 2k per plant is the norm, funny you know, on those figures everyone that grows pot for smoko and to unload a bit that they might have left over, should be driving around in farkin ferraris, :bongon:
