are them fertile?

Recommended Posts

I knew that only fertilised plants can produce seeds, but seeds can be found in the flowers too, my question is if they are fertile or not?

thanks.

Your question is a little confusing so I'm not surprised your confused. Put simply, seeds are produced by male pollen fertilising the female calyx. so all seeds should be fertile. Plants are either male, female or more rarely hermaphrodite. Female and hermaphrodite plants produce seeds. Males do not. Male flowers look like tiny bunches of grapes. Maybe your confusing them with seeds? Hope this helps. :peace:

Yes I know.

I mean in the non fertilised female plants, sometimes you can find seeds.

So I was wondering if they are fertile or not.

or in other words: can a female plant produce FERTILE seeds without the male?

thanks.

The female plant that self seeds it self will put out seeds.

The seeds the plant will make u will be able to grow and out of the ones that grow u will get males and the rest of them will be like the plant they come off and self seed againe.

Get a plant stress it until it self seeds and then plant the seeds and find out for ya self...

yeah your seeds are good only for the bin , dont use them , your best of useing stable genetics from a seed bank untill you can take your own cuttings..

it takes the seed banks somtimes 10 years to get a good stable genetic strain and well worth the $50-$100 to buy them ..i wish you good luck....

I disagree. Long before seed banks convinced us all that they were the only ones who could supply decent genetics I grew out plenty of seeds taken from a self seeded female. Most of these turned out great. I only ever followed one simple rule. If the seed came from some bud that was good then the offspring was likely to be good too. During many years of outdoor growing I only ever had 2 failures, both fully hermaphrodite. One of these was weak and horrible, the other was fantastic smoke but full of seeds. On the other hand I've bought plenty of over hyped seeds from banks promising all sorts of "best highs" only to be disappointed. Some of these varieties have been great, others disappointing. Same as in the old days. Only difference is now you have to pay for seed. Anyway that's my rant for the day. Plenty will disagree. :peace:

Don't bag the bag seed.

Stable Self fertilized hermaphrodyte , seed viable , increased chance of female progeny .

Stable fertilized by a male ,seed viable , normal male female mix.

Hyrbrid e.g. lowryders , male fertilized . Low germination 1 in 20 good copy of parents , 2 in 20 mutant ,sickly and other 17 fail to germinate , or so i hear.

yeah there is allways one.

i got the felling the poster didnt want to fuck around and watse to much time so my sugestion would be best for him

and bag seed is always a chance thing, if grow outside or you dont mind wasting time and electristy then go ahead but i think its much better to buy PROVEN stock so that when i take 50 cuttings i know what it is im filling my grow room with.
