Nine people will appear before Dubbo Local Court after they were arrested in relation to eight separate drug busts across the city yesterday.

Officers from Strikeforce Monkman struck the residences at 7am yesterday, however the operation had been under covert planning for about two months.

Homes in Gasnier Place, Gilbert Street, Bourke Street, Forrest Crescent, North Street, Aldrin Place, Braun Avenue and Colombia Street were searched by 85 police officers and a number of sniffer dogs.

An unspecified quantity of cannabis, as well as some cash, was seized from the properties.

Orana Local Area Command (LAC) crime manager Detective Inspector Rod Blackman said yesterday’s busts were a victory for police in the battle against the supply of drugs in Dubbo and outlying areas.

“The operation punctuated a lengthy operation by Orana Target Action Group as well as detectives, which had been undertaken over the last two months,” Det Insp Blackman said.

“The nature of the warrants was primarily focused on the supply of cannabis within Orana LAC and further west.

“Our information suggests cannabis was being supplied further out, however today’s focus was primarily on Dubbo.”

Det Insp Blackman said information from the public had been crucial in the success of the operation.

News of the raids was welcomed by members of the public, with comments being placed on the Daily Liberal’s website shortly after the story broke.

“Well done to the local (and not so local help) boys and girls in blue!!! Get rid of the rest of the scum in town and let us have back our lovely country town!!! said one website reader know as Opinionated Resident.

What a pitiful existence.

Wonder if they'll all go out and get pissed to unwind and celebrate the outcome? :scratchin:

Opinionated Resident. Is either a dealer and now knows he has back his wonderful town OR OR really doesn't get it.

Gettin rid of all your local scum bags will only have 'not so local' scum bags move in and take over where your home grown scum bags left off. Except the not so local crew, dont give a shit about you or your town or keeping a low profil. Nope OR's dream to leave their town populated by beige wearing, mediocrity living, fear loving (now there's an oxymoron for you) citizens is doomed to failure.

Nope I think the boys in Blue should have added, and we know only to bust the cocky bastards that dont know how to keep their mouth shut and carry on like a plastic gangster.

"We're not after the pot smoking hippie with a couple of plants for personal use," drug squad Supt Bingham said.

"We're after the organised criminal who is making money from these crops."

I noticed they have OR want to introduce the unexplained wealth law; so in other words are they asking ppl not to make money or are they asking people to 'explain it'. Well not in this case.

Was having a beer, a fella said he got done on tax, I said damn sorry to hear.

He said nah dont be, Im forced to pay back $100 a week for however long. defn the cheepest no interest loan I've got.

All depends on persepective really. This law thing really inst a measure of good or bad but smart or broke!

With the current pack of law makers running around, HONEST, doesnt appear to be part of the job discription.
