yes. water ph is one of the most important aspects of growing. if the ph is not within acceptable levels, then it will lock out the nutes from being absorbed by the plants. i usually go 5.2 for hydro and 6.2 for soil. minor variations are acceptable, but try to stay within 3 points of your goal ph.

hey PROZAC, can't comment on the pool tester because I don't have any experience with them. Its quite possible the PH of your water is 8. Mine is 8.5-9 depending, and I had a lot of problems with my grow until I started adjusting PH down to 6.5

 

In terms of light the general thinking is that MH is best for veg and HPS is best for flowering, although either could be used for the entire grow and give much better results than fluoros. You can also get combination MH/HPS bulbs like the Phillips Son-T-Agro which would be the best choice if you want to use one light for veg & flower.

Ph should be about the 5.5 mark...one point side of that is ok........

Fluros...maybe for clones but not for growing...go the 400 hps...about 170 bux brand new.......

yeah given em nutes dont have a soil tester yet I'll pick one up when I get the light.Why would I get a hps 400w for $170 when I can get a son t agro 600w for $90?

get some PH down to lower PH. Available at hydro stores and also at pet stores.

ifs it now new then u have all the hassles of not knowing how old the bulb is etc...and when u replace it its going to cost you about 70$ anyhow........
