LED Lights

hurtle

Recommended Posts

Hi guys :D, I'm just wondering if anyone has used LED lighting for their grow, and if so, how it went. I've seen a light which the manufacturers say is equivalent to 400-600wats, but which puts out only a small amount of heat, and costs 50-80% less to run then the HPS or MH lights.

It sounds good, but I haven't really heard much about their advantages in terms of flowering and yield. So if anyone can en'lighten' me ;) , I'd be grateful.

Peace to everyone :D

Hi I am new to this site, and this topic caught my eye, it is something I have wondered about.

I am sure it will come down to what spectrums the light/s emit ie. blue/red ect

Cheers JQ8

budder is right... the LED technology keeps getting better and better, right now the prices for LED's are a bit high, but they're constantly dropping. in a few years im pretty sure most people we'll be using LED's for both supplementary and main lighting. hurtle; i can assure u that a 100W of HPLED's (high power light emitting diode) all-red spectrum is a bit more light than a 400W HPS for flowering. look up the net for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led, and be careful of a what sellers claim about their led lights, some sellers will rip u off, ive seen sellers list 13 watts led panels, with the description of a 50 watts led panel, and im sure it sells cause most people dont know much about LED's yet. the most economical way to get u a nice LED light, would be to build yourself one, it can easily be done with a bit of electricity knowledge.

hope that'll help
