bubblers

I have a pump that does 38L/m and at the moment it is only bubbling one 20L bucket. Originally I crimped the spare output lines and the water was bubbling really violently, and I thought this may damage the roots, so I left an outlet blowing free which results in less bubbles in the bucket.

 

The pic below shows the bubbles produced in each situation. Am I right to worry about bubbling too violently when my pump is only powering one or two buckets or am I worrying about nothing?

should be right, does your pump not have a control?

anyhoo, will work good , just keep the water level lower than usual, I would leave the airstone on, the bubbles should be finer and softer.

the more air you get to them roots the better. you cannot give them too much air. plus it decreases chances of root rot and other root bacteria. also better to have more air when heat is a factor.
