Help please - Strange woody growth in the middle of my flower

Recommended Posts

Looked around for a while but couldn't find an answer to this.

So I went away overnight and stopped using my magic laserbeam eyes to make my outdoor plants grow and then I came home and found a strange brown growth in the middle of a flower half way up one of them. There are no signs of bugs and the leaves all look pretty green and the next bud up looks okay. Plucked it off inpanic but at least thought to take pics.

Does anyone know what this is? Do I need to panic?

Cheers

Thanks Chron and MO - I've given the rest of the plant a pretty good going over and can't find any more and my other plant seems okay. I have them in pots and they follow the sun round the yard - do you think turning that side to the sun more often will help? So far they're looking wonderful and I really don't want them to die.

Cheers
