HELP! - pH concern

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Im hoping someone can help. I'm using coco as a medium in a basic run to waste set up, the pH level of the nute is set to 5.5-5.7 but the pH of the run off is a worrying 7.1-7.4! Its towards the end of veg and the leaves are displaying signs of element/s deficiency - (spots &/or speckled bleaching of the leaves and the older leaves are limp/tired looking) which is understandable if the pH at the root zone is so high. I thought flushing would resolve the problem but i flushed her yesterday and run off pH is still 7.2. I must admit that i have been lazy with my flushing because in my experience flushing hasn't been vital until their flowering when i increase the nute ppm/EC.

I'm considering flushing a few more times and changing my nute type to get it in order before budding begins.

- Anybody have any suggestions??

Cheers guys.

I will definitely flush again. I got thinking, i previously lived in Sth Aust where the water is more acidic than Victoria where i'm living now. It was several years ago but from memory Adelaide water was mid to high 6 range, the tap water im using now is around a pH of 7. Logically i should be flushing with water that i've adjusted to correct pH, i never did in the past and have always had commendable results. I assumed by flushing with tap water then feeding shortly afterwards the run off would be lower than 7.3.

i'm currently using "Hydromino" nutrients, the pH before adjusting is around 6.3-6.5 so it does contain a buffer. It's the 1st time i've used this brand of nutes, thought i'd test em out for veg. I used dutch master previously & decided to try a different brand because dutch master has been getting some bad reports - i'm always open to trying new nutes if anyone has any recommendations..?

**QUESTION: Has anybody compared results of flushing with tap water to flushing with pH adjusted water??***

thanks for your help guys
