indoor to outdoor

Recommended Posts

hey just a few questions, if a seed or clone is started indoors under light cycle 18/6 then moved outdoors after bout 2 - 3 weeks will it start to bud outdoors straight away, or would it be best to slowly drop the light the plant gets indoors before moving it out, like from 18/6 to 16/8 and keep dropping the light by an hour or two every few days ? :P any ideas or info would be great, :D

I transplanted some clones from hydro to the soil outside, they went from 24hr light to natural daylight hours in mid December, they did show some early signs of going to flower but they reverted to veg with no problems.

depends on time of year....if you grew them big...we did that with three plants...they had spans around the pots of two metres and we moved em outside to flower mid way through winter....and consequently saved us a shitload of power.....we basically moved the whole indoor setup outside...kept em in pots and they loved the natural sun........

So choose your time of year carefully...now to mid way through winter at the latest would be ok for flowering....

Growing outdoors now....no

was in the process of moving house...and only place they could go was outdoors.....

other advantge is...most of your power goes into the flowering stage...if you can cut that out twice per year youll save yourself 1000 or so.....

let me ask a stupid question...whats the advantage in vegging indoors then transferring to outdoors?  Would'nt you do just as well planting seeds outdoors to start with?

You can start your outdoor crop a month early and be putting plants in the ground when others are planting their seeds, good idea for people that live in cooler climates like Tassie.

That's exactly what I'll be doing...If I end up with a few too many clones...they're going straight out into the bush..I plan to go guerilla planting just as soon as spring gets here so I can plant as many clones outside as I possibly can..wouldn't it be a beauty having 5 or 10 different strains growing out in the bush..come next winter if only a fraction survive it'll be like winning the gold lotto except a pot of shit instead of a pot of gold..bliss...

By using indoor outdoor methods you can have outdoor heads at anytime of year (almost) and you can get maximum yield out of a pissy amount of electricity, by vegging a big plant indoors it will flower at anytime of year, I don't know about putting out a plant at december, But I know you can pick a plant in December this way, I grew ridiculous amounts of pot with one 400w light a few years ago using this method, and a houseframe, Can be trouble in the colder months, which I fixed with a nute heater and hydroponics.

I think maybe the fact I use 24hrs light might have kept me from running back to reveg. I alwasy use 24hrs light after auto-flowering problems.

Maybe it won't work with pure Sativa's I dunno, I needed small plants.

Anyone who has the opportunity to combine indoor and outdoor I reccomend it heaps.

Winter harvest is easy Putard, plant seeds in May/June depending we're you are, on the North Coast here, winter crops are heaps popular as there is no choppers. Just stick to Dutch outdoor indica's.
