If you're growing inside i would recommend using an soilless medium to grow in such as coco or perlite. Coco is probably the easiest to grow in as you don't need to constantly monitor it, it will also grow a lot faster in coco cut with perlite.

I wouldn't even put them under the hps at the moment, but if you were to do that put them under shade or raise the hps at least 60cm above the pots. I have found that it usually just burns them that early on in life though.

Do you know what medium the nutrients are for? if growing in soil you will need the Canna Terra range.

This should help : http://www.canna.com.au/dhtml/products_terra.php?lang=enx

Lovethastuff you can get really good results with organic soil mixes and ferts under 400w (look at 'strain ID' thread) the pics are my soil grow and as you can see things are happy and healthy with some nice heads on the way

coco/perlite might grow a bit faster but soil might be less hassels?? I don't have to fiddle with PH or any of that although it wouldn't hurt to throw in a bit of lime after a few weeks as most organic soils with the addition of nutrients tend to become atleast a little bit acidic.
