Cane Toads and Bufotenin

Does any body know if the regular cane toad found on the East Coast and elsewhere secretes Bufotenin that you can dry and smoke? Without getting a lungfull of other poisons that kill the dogs etc?

 

 

But anyone who knows, or maybe has tried it would give any insight, that would be great.

For what its worth, many years ago when I was a lot younger some friends and I captured some local cane toads and milked them.

 

You get a crystal sort of white goo, we smoked it through a bong with no effects, psychedelic or otherwise.

 

Certainly doesn't harm you though.

There is certainly records of people smoking east-coast toad - we watched a docco on it back in high school

 

But they contain bufotenin, unlike the 5meo in Bufo alvarius.

 

Bufotenin is considered psychedelic, but it's also a toxin in and of itself

Besides whatever else could be in and on toad skin.

 

My advice would be not to try

Good to hear smoking cane toad secretion isn't harmful like ingesting it. But no way would I wanna try smoking anything from one of those poisonous bastards.

There is little or no bufotenine in cane toad venom. A myth probably perpetuated by its taxonomic name: Bufo Marinus.
