DWC bubbler and feeder rings?

short answer no, long answer no :smoke:

the best root structures i've had have benefited from a gap between the water an the top of the roots, what they call the "air roots". you don;t need to top feed dwc except possibly when in real early veg and the roots haven;t broken thru the net pot and your bubble strength/coverage isn;t good enough to penetrate the pots an wet the roots. in this case i just hand water top feed once every day or so.

The front plant is a diesel ryder and was plantd just over a week ago, and the back 2 are northen lights planted late August. Wanted to see how short I could keep the NLs so theyve been under 12/12 since september and are starting to flower already. Did have another DR planted when the girls went 12/12 but turned out to be a boy; up side to that is some of the flowers on the NL girls got the pollen, be interesting to see how that turns out so fingers crossed.

Recirculating feed rings are not nessesary as described above.

When I run my bubblers I sometimes use em on bigger plants in larger bubble systems, or for normal 1 plant per 20L bucket type system, I run a feed hose to each pot but just squirt into the bucket, not on roots or media in aid of keeping all the buckets with more consistent nutirent, (not varying from bucket to bucket).

Only prob with this method is you need good drainage or the roots can clog, I found using 19mm hose & fittings to help out here, depends on how big you want em really. Remember bubblers produce rapid growth and roots can travel impressive distances into some incredibly unbelievable places.

I hear what your saying bout the roots travelling an stuff HappyJay but i;ve never really witnessed it in DWC. Well maybe the stray root here or there in non re-circ multi bucket sytems but if it aint re-circing a blocked drain aint gunna overflow or cause too many problems before you notice it. Bigger problems is rogue clayballs that dont float an block ya lines lol, had them a couple of times.

In Aeroponic systems yes the roots will clog drains an grow up the lines but not DWC an i only use 13mm hose for drainage an 4mm for water re-circ.

If those roots didn;t block the drain i dunno what will lol

That is some serious roots, Ill give you that for sure.

I have had a single clog once with 1/2 inch hose but I supose I was running the pump 24/7, for continuouse nutrient exchange. After one flood, paranoia is a major factor. I have never tried aero but have tried Ebb & flo and NFT aswell as loving my bubblers. Have had many a drama with clogs in NFT and also the occasional stray clay ball.

Proof is in the pudding I say, and that is there is quality enough proof for me.

Cheers
