A 33-year-old Gold Coast man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today charged over a hydroponic drug operation at Worongary.

Police say they searched the man's property early yesterday and found about 50 cannabis plants.

Superintendent Jim Keogh says the drugs were well hidden.

"The officers were down the back searching a shed area and didn't see anything untoward in the shed and pushed up against a wall and it had a secreted door in the wall and behind the wall of course were the hydroponic plants," he said.

The 33-year-old man is charged with possessing and producing dangerous drugs.

dangerous drugs? i thought he was growing weed. i am new to this site and know little of the law regarding the cultivation of cannabis in Australia. i was under the impression that it was legal (well almost) to grow up to 10 cannabis plants and just face a fine. is this not true??

Southport, Gold Coast, Queensland

With the current laws in Qld farts would fall under the analogue laws and be considered illegal

recently a person in Qld was charged and pleaded guilty to a drug utensil charge, scissors! :smoke:
