Recommended Posts

i cant seem to get my plants cranking, i mean some are kinda yellow an not grow big are still small, with a couple of small leaf sets, a couple are growing bigger an seem to be fine, i got a couple of older plants in the cupborad too an they were going ok, but now ones leafs are rolling up,not dying an curling but the jaggered sides of the leaves are raising up an curling, its hard to expalin but it looks weird, one or two of my younger plants are doing this too,, i looked at a nutreint troulbe webpage an it kinda looks like a (mg) problem?, any tips on fixing, and any tips on running the right ph, i think im running my nutes at about 5.9,6.0,6.1 its hard to tell, and my plain water is about the same, also if anyone knows where to get a good ph chart with colour on the net it would be much appreciated, i though i was going so well, if this info helps with problem ive been giving them nute ,aswell as water atleast once a day, is this too much or not enough?? HELP

Sounds like you need to flush your plants with ph corrected aged water for a couple of days then mix your nutrients as directed for the age of your plants using aged ph corrected water, aim for a ph of 6.2, if you are using good quality mj specific nutrients the Mg should not be a problem.

Howdy,

It definately sounds like a ph. problem, and you can't get these ph colour charts off the net. As different chemicals are used, you should get a ph tester that uses boromythol (??) blue, that stuff only detects between 5 and 7.5. And is the most accurate.

Also wait at least an hour before checking your ph again after adding ph up or down.

My berry hybrids leaves curl up like your saying during late flowering and nothing can fix it, but I'd say you've just got a ph prob. Do what Tom says.

You get them from aquarium shops, can't use them after adding the nutrients though as the water is discoloured.

I grow mine in a ph of 5.2 are you telling me its too low (I grow in rockwool)

No, denske is using a similar set-up to mine with the same media, I'm going by what I know works, if 5.2 is working for you in your system then stick with it, mj is a very tolerant plant.

ozdazz, lower pH increases nutrient availability in hydro, I go for 5.5 to 6, usually try to stay at 5.7 or so.

5.2 is a bit low I reckon, I got a chart in a book that shows nutrient availability in different ph ranges, if I can't find an online one I'll type it out in a few days.

People used to lower the pH to 3 in rockwool in america to buffer the alkalinity, but in Australia we have some of the highest quality rockwool, CSR rockwool has always been neutral, and the amsterdam growool is neutral too, I'm sure they would have fixed the problems in the US as well.
